And - perhaps inevitably - one commenter calling himself "Truth Hurts," chimed in with a subtle, understated, and well-balanced summation: "CTO Kevin Lynch and all the Adobe employees are liars and lazy, just like Steven Jobs calls it."

The other post didn't come from Apple though. The gravest security threads are on Windows. And have been for a decade.

ok, so they're both bad. Doesn't change the fact that Flash is full of holes. We were talking about FLASH. The article I posted was about ADOBE and FLASH, not about security of Windows and Macs.UltraJv wrote:Depends what you read :spaceman wrote:The other post didn't come from Apple though. In some respects - speaking as a non-techie - it doesn't matter to me whether Flash is actually good or not. All I want is to able to browse the current 2010 internet as is, without finding pages don't load properly because a hardware manufacturer has deliberately censored them due to some turf war. I actually think that the position Steve Jobs is taking is pathetic.
As fort the war of words between Apple and Adobe... well Apple are not supporting Adobe flash. I wonder how this will play out if Adobe take the same immature attitude, and decide not to support OSX with any of their products. My guess is that the design and publishing industries will in the short term use Windows on their Mac computers, then in the medium term ditch Apple altogether. Apple offer no viable alternative.
Claiming that a new device is great for surfing the net, but not supporting normal net standards, is like going into publishing but missing out all the vowels in words.

This is why The Steve is a billionaire and you're not. (Or are you? In which case, you might want to buy Adobe and do something about their incredible apathy. Photoshop really needs a performance update that should have been released about, oh, two years ago...)headquest wrote:In some respects - speaking as a non-techie - it doesn't matter to me whether Flash is actually good or not. Jobs' position is actually all about improving the web experience for users like yourself; the transition away from Flash toward HTML5 will, in the long run, be a very good thing, as Flash is a mess not really worth fixing. (The fact that Adobe has done very little, if anything, in this regard should give you pause. Of course, Adobe seems to do very little, period, with any of their products recently.)
The solution for your web-browsing troubles: stick to a PC.
FWIW, I have absolutely NO trouble with Flash on my iMac running OS X 10.6.2, in either Safari or Firefox.

Job's is getting too big for his britches again. The last time he did this, he found himself without a job (Im sure there's a funny pun in there somewhere but Im just waking up still). Problem with Steve Job's is - his ego isnt big enough to fit inside a normal 30 story sky skraper, they have to add in additional 20 floors just to contain it.headquest wrote:In some respects - speaking as a non-techie - it doesn't matter to me whether Flash is actually good or not. No doubt in the next year or so he will try to throw his weight around more and more in the industry, demanding this that and the other thing from other companies, telling them how they are all stupid, and battling with "stupid" consumers etc....and then Apple will go down in a specatular ball of flames.. once again, and need to be re-built....

If I were you, I'd call William Hill and put a grand on that happening.
