can someone explain in detail how to set the six performance sliders on the rhino main page. the guide does not cover this topic very well.
specifically, how to assign parameters and their ranges. plus, assigning multiple parameters to a single slider (if possible).

Well...the way I do it, is first set the slider you want to automate to 0. Then click on USER LEARN, then move the slider all the way up ( that is if you want the start and end points to be the whole usage of the slider) then click on a user slider and then click on the top part to name it. Then turn off USER LEARN.
You can undo a user slider by turning on USER LEARN and CTRL-clicking into the the user slider.
But Tick may have a better way.

Yes, that's the way to do it. Except that you can set any start/end values, and do it several times for the same slider. So you can have a slider automating control X (0->100) and control Y (100->0), thus doing a sort of morph effect.

the implementation is very logical, and you have explained it very clearly. also glad to hear you can assign multiple params per slider. i never would have guessed it on my own; hummm. perhaps i should download a more recent user guide!!
i am making significant progress on my bank, still on target for christmas (maybe even this one).

A few more tips: Program your main sound and save it. Then readjust your parameters (not envelopes) to get a new sound and make note of what you changed. Reload the origional sound click on user learn and adjust the first parameter from origional value to new value. Then move the slider you want it assigned to (I use slider 1 assigned to a MW). Move the rest of the parameters only in the direction to reach the new value and move the slider after each one. Reclick on user learn and you're finished. This takes planning for good results but it is well worth it.
I'll release a new bank this week that uses this function to create realistic acoustic sounds. A woodwind player, for example, has great control over volume, tone, articulation, etc. just by wind pressure or a violinist by bow pressure. Rhino users can now have similar control.
By early Jan I'll release another bank that has wild morphs. Stay tuned.

very much looking forward to this bank.
i've been playing with the envelopes in energyXT and for a synth as potent as rhino 'movement' like this raises it to another level of expression.
there are times when i want an electronic instrument to be flat/mechanical/electronic sounding, but to be able to contol things for 'emotional' expression really brings music to life.

I am also challenged by the setting of user defined faders!
I understand how to set the range of the sliders but not how you `tell' a slider what it is that the slider is to control . . or am I the original midi moron?

1. Set FX1 Dry/Wet mix slider to 30
2. Turn "user learn" on
3. Set FX1 Dry/Wet mix slider to 80
4. Move user slider 1
5. Turn "user learn" off
