I have been looking to purchase Albino 3 but I just recently found out that they don't make the box version anymore. So I was wondering, if I got the download version and somehow my computer got destroyed would I have to buy it again?

Effectively, what you pay for is a licence code that you enter into the downloaded software. So, as long as you keep a copy of that code somewhere safe, your machine can have a total meltdown and you will be able to install and run it on the replacement.
Linplug sales are through Share-It and I think they generally have the option of mailing a backup CD to you when you order (but I can't remember for sure as I did this a while ago).
However, the full versions of the instruments can be downloaded from Linplug's website so you don't really need the CD version (although it's always a good idea to make sure you have a backup installer just in case).

Ok well thanks for the help, but if my computer did have a complete meltdown would I be able to reinstall it without a backup cd? (sorry I'm not very computer savvy)Gamma-UT wrote:Effectively, what you pay for is a licence code that you enter into the downloaded software. Yes. But you will have to keep a copy of the email you get from Linplug/Share-it because it contains the licence code and the download location. It's highly possible that Linplug will keep records of your purchase, so even that might not be necessary, but I can't speak for them. Backups are A Good Thing anyway.wrnrchvz wrote:Ok well thanks for the help, but if my computer did have a complete meltdown would I be able to reinstall it without a backup cd? Linplug keeps a record of every downloaded purchase and are very good about responding to legitimate customers needs. You should have no problems, and Albino 3 is a must have VI...

HI
Better still: buy it, download it via the link you will get (along with a serial number) and just copy the installer and serial number to a CD/DVD/thumb drive or whatever other medium.
Always make a copy of your software ... somewhere!
Another reason why I like serial number C/P: this way you know that you can use your software whenever you have to reinstall or have a computer breakdown - no worry about having to go online to register or whatever.
Flipper.
