Didn't someone recently upload some wavs of this? Think this was the model/and it was supersaws.
Sounded really basic. Oh boy.

Sure, its easy enough to detune a few saws, but no one has even attempted to clone this function. The JP8K is a pretty thin-sounding synth in general, and this is really the only reason I hang on to mine. Otherwise, I can get far better supersaw sounds out of other synths. The Andromeda, for example, gives me up to 16 real analog detuned voices, with two oscillators and sub osc per voice!
for people who don't own one:
I'm sorry, but after listening to as much of that as I could stand, I have to say that most of the sounds are, to me, sonic overkill. The more a synth sounds like a Prophet or a Moog or some other analog classic, the better I like it.

There was much more to a JP8000 than a supersaw.
There's the feedback oscillator and all the other waveforms for a start.
Personally, I'm fed up of the 1001 vsti's claiming they're a jp8000 emulator when they only feature a supersaw..and nothing else.

I uploaded a whole bunch of variable supersaw .wavs a couple months ago for some guys who were trying to crack the mystery. I never heard anything more from it, though. I wasn't really interested in the project... Just interested in helping out where I could.RunBeerRun wrote:Didn't someone recently upload some wavs of this? I reckon with a bit of patience and meticulous comparison by ear, one can replicate a number of these sounds with Audjoo Helix.Moe Shinola wrote:generalstargazer wrote:thin sounding?? this thing sounds awesome!deastman wrote:Once again this topic comes up and everyone ignores the most interesting (IMHO) aspect of the JP-8000... the feedback oscillator. Not the feedback oscillator. To my knowledge, it uses technology no soft synth can do.MaliceX wrote:

not to put oil on the fire or anything, but how come a dsp algo cannot be reproduced by a soft synth, not like the FB osc is like an analog piece of circuitry in the jp, it's in the all digital v-synth too (and probably all roland VA too)Fedorahat wrote:Not the feedback oscillator. All I was trying to say that you can't replicate the feedback osc sound just from a standard synth, no matter how complex. theres a lot of stuff going on to get that feedback osc act and sound like it does.

I've read the supersaw was a square, filtered, then detuned 6 times. an mixed back in. I've found a schematic of the feedback oscillator. It was also a square where the audio output is fed back in and outputted again. No, you can't do anything like this digitally unless you write your own code.

here's the super saw I want emulated:
probably not possible with code though.

It has been done in Reaktor. I take it no one checked out the Reaktor link I posted above to the JP8000? Until someone tries the example I posted - why keep saying it cant be done? Here it is again :osiris wrote:I've read the supersaw was a square, filtered, then detuned 6 times. an mixed back in. I've found a schematic of the feedback oscillator. You may have to sign up to get the patch. If its not perfect, it can be made so.
