I had fun messing the UIs; the Bat is just on the edge of being unreadable
I can't tell much for other emulations, but according to the sound I posted, I don't think there is much room left between the sound commming from Cream Tube and the real TS808.
I would probably expect to hear more difference than this between two different hardware TS808.

Spot on! SRV reportedly went thru hundreds to find that special one. Its even more extreme with earlier units like the fuzzface as component manufacturingI would probably expect to hear more difference than this between two different hardware TS808.
tolerance was very loose.

yeah, and transistors are pretty awkward sometimes.
I have plans to add "versions" to the plugins from time to time when the occasion comes.
For instance, the new black big muff that was modeled after my own hardware unit will be added to the Muffin Rider. There might be a US reissue on its way too.
I also have a contact with a TS9 owner, so a Cream Tube "CT9" variation will be added to the Cream Tube package. Once the architecture is right and a fisrt solid version has been done, making a variation isn't very tricky.
But of course it only makes sense when it gets close enough to have more difference between versions than between one version and its hardware model.

Not many people like those weird tones, hence the few VSTs dedicated to them I guess.
Which other octave fuzz did you have in mind?

not many people, indeed. anyway I pick RM's Octavia. I could cope with a nice EH octave multiplexer, though.

Yes, what is funny about brass buster is the "harmonic" switch which let you get a very hi passed version of the dirty signal, so you can mix it with the clean signal.
It adds grit withouth completely messing up the sound, which i guess is the whole idea behind the design.
Here is a mp3 featuring a new Muffin Rider US, based on a real BM US reissue.
The capacitors are higher than on the black version, giving it a pretty different response.
The mp3 with both real sounds and emulation results, first with sustain at minimum, and then with sustain at maximum :

(The sound is DI, so you might want to run it through a cab to smoothen it and save your ears)

Working hard to get everything fine tuned.
I had the chance to work on a little brother for D-plus, the "D-380" modeled from a "DOD YJM 308", a Disto+ mod with a pretty different tone.
With the usual A/B comparison
