Where did you read that?
I had the impression that all of the synthesis in the JP-8000 was purely software. I would be quite surprised if there was an actual analog feedback loop anywhere inside that box. But who knows...

It is all digital (and is in several other Roland synths too like the V-Synth)

I'm working on jp 8000 emulation the second year already , if we will be lucky we will have it by the end of this year , I was planning something like that .

Regards.

Me too, when the JP8K was first released ... a real "ear opener".

it does. imo even better (for various reasons) than the jp8000, which was mono, as well as it did not have enough voices when using upper+lower to get the sound stereo. however, there's no doubt that the supersaw implementation in the jp8000 was

a) quite a useful invention, that came like a bomb (comparable impact as the 303 had)
b) it sounds quite unique on the jp8000 and isn't exactly nailled by any other synth
c) it is underesthimated by most users due to the restriction of use of the supersw exclusiveley and just doing the obvious with it. the supersaw has way more useful but more unobstrusive uses than the typical teen-tarnce lead, as well as the jp has a lot more osc types that stand out as unique as well (someone already mentioned the feedback osc).

oh, and, i might be wrong, but i believe the supersaw of the jp8000 was only 5 saws, whereas the jp8080's one was made of 7 ... i recall someone by roland told me back in the days on the frankfurt fair ...

since arturia emulated the jupiter 8 someone should be able to emulate the jp8000 or 8080

The only thing they emulated with the Jupiter 8 is the layout.

All that shows its that its Phase distortion, as used by Casio on CZ synths many years back. Nothing special there.
That doesn't show anything germaine to the topic at all, and it's got nothing to do with phase distortion either. That sort of feedback isn't related to the self-modulation or whatever it is the JP-8000's oscillator does. Feedback is just a standard technique for constructing an oscillator in analog electronics, because when you feed back a phase-shifted copy of the output the response becomes oscillatory (as in, a boring ol' sine wave). Amplifiers also typically use lots of feedback, actually to reduce distortion.

:hihi: Arturia's track record with emulations is somewhat, well... lackluster.

It's funny, this thread is actually making me want to get another JP-8080. While the sound quality itself was pretty poor, it was amazing to program and did have some interesting and relatively unique features.

Arturia's Jupiter emulation doesn't emulate anything but the interface ...

I like my JP-8000. It does its thing, its got its flaws, but so does everything. It has a fantastic interface, and almost every function has a tactile control

seems.. U-tube JP8000 sound doesn't show JP8000 self's good sound..
Is this only my thought? too many reverb.. light feeling.. I don't have JP but, I have some demo song.. and JP was fantastic at that song. dark.. rich..sound..

maybe many people seems use it as trance synth.. but it was art at the demo song that I have
I like music
