don't listen if you're morose as these songs are categorically tragic, which is often part of music and stories. they're not directed at anyone*, eg. to make fun of suffering, and if you think they are you're forgetting what muses can be like, and my muse is my own.

'the sea' and 'so blue' were written in 1996 and 1997 if anyone remembers that project. apart from the cymbal (909) in 'the sea,' everything else is _of course_ one of my vst, the vocals are syng2 with kjaerhus classic chorus, the hats are cymbal vsti ('mass-springs' pack). i'm working with $7 earbuds so the bass is probably too loud and i didn't get too fiddly.

'reminiscin' is a rendering of the lyrics to a 'robot discotheque' instrumental (a.k.a. 'how to properly listen to the original), intended as an innocuous recursive sliding puzzle. i was plugged in to an outlet in some bleachers and witnessed a conflagration of swallows, who, in the evening light, were almost too fast for the eye to track as they swooped and looped in front of me, the whole mass of crossing, circling flight paths seeming random and precise like an embodiment of harmony (i'm thinking the vocal novelty effect has routed the composition's evolution). read this after you hear it or it will spoil it: (i find the 'w's hilarious, if you replace them with 'b' then you can sing 'remember the baby bird,' which i find endearing. as a giant chunk of cheese).

*except for 'song to chicxulub,' which is a fairly mechanical composition, the vocal melody such as it is being the only inspired element. the lyrics were influenced by the movie "final fantasy: the spirits within," and, lots of things, really.

here's a note for syng2 aspirants: the consonant 'w' has very high resonance on the band pass filters and sometimes clicks when it switches to some vowels. i found i could prevent this by putting an 'oo' in front of whatever follows it.

Oh good, music from you that I haven't heard yet.

I see you've put many of your songs back up at your website http://www.xoxos.net/music/music.html

I really enjoy your music, :)

ROBOT DISCOTHEQUE is a fun one.

Classic, is just like the name says.

Lots of really great stuff, it's unique and has character too.

That's tragic : so few people will hear them. Please make an album.

On the first song linked, the bass is a tad too loud, and the robot voice is slightly lost in the mix. The bass in chicxulub is well mixed, but the robot vocal could go up a bit. Nice harmonisation in the track! Not sure why, this track reminds me of The Cure.

Love your syng2 sounds. I'm a sucker for pseudo-vocal sounds, vocoder, vox-boxes, love them all.

Your demos for Syng2 were one of the most beautiful tracks out there. Robots in Love and Cyber especially. Can't find them on your website, just as well I have them on my puter. :D

how's the bass for 'so blue?' - it's petty, though since this is probably the extent of my monitor for a time forward, it's useful to know. :)
