i've always been wondering about the 'deep phasing' effect. cuts thru ANY mix and has a queer psychoacoustic quality.
.. i know it sounds foolish what i say.. could all be imagination..
still, any1 can relate to the 'deep phasing' effect?

I was being flippant. You do know that the jp8000 is entirely digital. Any oscillator/s it has, feedback or not is implemented in software. This means that its entirley do able on PC and in Reaktor, if you know to ignore what people say and emulate what you hear. Like many emulations, when someone nails it - I bet it turns out the effect will be comb/notch filter or similar. I also bet, people will say it dosnt sound right as it dosnt have a "feedback oscillator" loluvacom wrote:That doesn't show anything germaine to the topic at all, and it's got nothing to do with phase distortion either. That sort of feedback isn't related to the self-modulation or whatever it is the JP-8000's oscillator does. Feedback is just a standard technique for constructing an oscillator in analog electronics, because when you feed back a phase-shifted copy of the output the response becomes oscillatory (as in, a boring ol' sine wave). Amplifiers also typically use lots of feedback, actually to reduce distortion.UltraJv wrote:Sure, will need examples of code with proof its yours rather than just MP3s. No sneaky Googling like this :

All that shows its that its Phase distortion, as used by Casio on CZ synths many years back. Nothing special there.

I realize you were being flippant, but I also think you don't understand that circuit as well as you think you do.
Unless you were intending to be completely nonsensical.
But anyway, yes, the JP-8000's feedback oscillator could certainly be done in software. I have no idea why anybody thinks otherwise.

I'm not sure you are. Well, perhaps you're crazy, but not on this topic.amiga909 wrote:i've always been wondering about the 'deep phasing' effect. cuts thru ANY mix and has a queer psychoacoustic quality.

there is one on ebay for sale, i dont remeber the firms name but you can check out JP 8000 on ebay under synths and it should pop up.ferdik wrote:Now when we got good emulations of Roland 909, 808, 303..(D16 Group) and the Minimoog (Arturia) Why isn't anyone doing the most asked for softsynth ever - JP8000?
I could easily pay 1000 € for the perfect one.

Sadly I sold my VF-1... I'm not sure which of my recordings had it on it but I used it on guitar a lot. My old hardware rig was a Vox Tonelab SE into the VF-1 for reverb and other effects. The two units worked really well IMO because the Vox had good amp models and lack luster effects and the VF-1 had bad amp models and good effects. But I digress...adamtrance wrote:Got any samples of it?zerocrossing wrote:Like the chorus on my VF-1 or SonicCell... nothing quite like it.
So all I have is my SonicCell these days and I don't use it as an audio interface (where it can be used as an effects processor) because it's stupidly set up. The audio ins get combined with the synth sounds. FAIL. But it's got that same effect, I hear it for sure. I'll try and make a little sample and post it.
