Thanks Hlis :)
The 'O' can be seen as two things. Either a Hexagon (playing with the 6 layer idea someone mentioned earlier in this thread) or a sphere inside a 3d cube.
The font itself can be changed into something more 'appropiate' and match the style of the core symbol.

Thank you to everyone that entered.

I will be judging the entries this weekend and make my decision on Tuesday.

If anyone wants to voice their favorites, please go ahead.

DO NOT flame anyone's design. No put downs or complaints. Everyone who entered did a great job and deserves a virtual round of applause.

Thanks for bringing this to the top. Now I don't have to look for it.

The winner will be announced today (at some point before midnight).

I just have to go through all the graphics and choose my favorite, as well as the three runner ups.

OK.

My decision is based on how well the logo will sit not only in the GUI, but also how it will look in print and advertising.

There were some very good entries, but some were just not exciting enough for a hi-tech product. They were good, nonetheless.

One entry was good and would have been a runner-up, but it seems the artist dropped out and did not PM me back in time as to whether he was still in or out.

One last entry would have won, hands down, but problems arose and he dropped out . . . but, in case he is reading this . . . I will be happy to work with him on other projects in the future.

Now, on to the winners:

FIRST PLACE: scoobz

RUNNERS-UP:

2nd place: limeflavour
3rd place: scifiartman
4th place: sauli

Scoobz' logo was the PERFECT font, but the effects would not work as a small logo, so we will go over that and create the perfect logo for SuperCore. I always loved Limeflavour's initial logo, but the font choice did not work for me. scifiartmans' logo was EXCELLENT, but needed more oomph for the vsti. In print, it's a great logo.

Congrats to the winners! scoobz, limeflavour and scifiartman will all receive copies of SuperCore with several expansions.

Just want to say a BIG CONGRATS to Vernics and his fine logo design(s)!

Also want to say thanks to those that have chimed in with warm words for my efforts! I intended to reply sooner (and even UL a few more designs) but a serious family crisis pulled me out of town. Life happens!

There really were so many inventive, imaginative, and excellent designs in this event! It must have been a challange to make a final decision!

All the best Mike, and SuperCore!

As soon as I work things out with the winner, I will post the winning pic.

The ETA for SuperCore is March, 2010.

Due to unfortunate circumstances, Vernics will be unable to take place in this contest and has summarily forfeited his prize and entry.

Scoobz is the new 1st place winner.

Sauli has now become the 4th place winner and will receive SuperCore with several expansions.

Congratulations Scoobz.

Tell you what. I'll accept the winning original file the artist created at the onset of the contest.

If I need changes or a bigger version, I can negotiate a price with the artist for a bigger version.

Is that fair?

Mike
Quoted for posterity ;)
