I would say that the overall sound of Sylenth is a little better, however it does sound a little hyped and lacking in the punchy bass department. It doesn't have as many features as z3ta, but Sylenth's UI is clearer.

I think exactly the opposite, z3ta has a better interface to me. Synlenth felt a bit confusing to me.
Anyways V'ger tells the truth.

Z3ta's very good - and it also has a nifty frequency slider at the bottom which I love! - but the game (as always) has moved on since then and Sylenth is much better sounding.
Sylenth is easily one of the top sounding vsts out there still, at least until we see this decade's soft synths come through shortly, and you should go for this if it's a straight shoot out at the moment.
(Please note that there are currently some big 64-bit problems with Sylenth, probably just like many other synths out there already, so you may wish to do a check on KVR from around October-December 2009 regarding this topic. I'm not sure how Z3ta is with 64-bit, as I run at 32 instead.).

I've had z3ta about a year and sylenth a week. from my limited time, I think soundwise they are both superb but Sylenth is more instant gratification, whereas z3ta takes a bit longer to get the same results. more thoughts anyhow.

It doesn't appear that either will get needed fixes anytime in the near future.

The developer of zeta had an interview in CM magazine and said "We ll likely update Z3ta+."
As for sylenth1 i want to believe that he works the memory leak bug...

Let's not start that one again eh? Plenty has been said on that in loads of different threads and it isn't really called for.vicious_angel wrote:As for sylenth1 i want to believe that he works the memory leak bug...

Note I said near Future. Wake me when the Midi File Import bug is fixed in Z3TA. It's been a few years now................vicious_angel wrote:The developer of zeta had an interview in CM magazine and said "We ll likely update Z3ta+."

As for Sylenth 1, Lennard works in mysterious ways. It's been months waiting for this fix but he could drop something at any time I suppose.

What's not called for? The OP asked for pros and cons. Known bugs not getting fixed is a con..........no matter how small that bug is perceived to be.....yellowfever wrote:Let's not start that one again eh? The Pro is that both these instruments sound great. The bugs can be lived with but people should know they are there.

I agree with teksonik.
Tho if you want future proof products stay away from both :p
On topic again. I would sugest sylenth1 if it has to do with sound quality.
Synth with a character and easy on programming VA sounds. NO big modulations options which is disturbing when i do sound design, but somehow i tend to have 3-5 instanses of it in any project i do.
Can the op tell us his needs?

Different things. Zeta is more a wavetable while Sylenth is a additive synth? For Zeta are also some waveforms of the Access Virus available (Virus mod).
Unfortunately further development seems stopped after Renè was acquired by Cakewalk. There are some things which needs an improvement.
Sylenth is new (compared to Z3ta) but here a bit the same problem... Lennard seems to have other (unknown) ideas about the future of Sylenth1.
Sylenth1 is easier to handle and has an instant good and deep sound which is sometimes comparable to good hardware. Z3ta is more flexible but IMHO it sounds more like a plug-in. I like Sylenth1 more but sometimes Z3ta is the better choice. Good to have both but if I prefer Sylenth1.
