Is 2C's Aether REALLY worth it? (the answer is: yes, certainly)

Well I hope the option is there to keep the gui style as it currently is. I love the current berlin small.

Fantastic sounding reverb.Galbanum wrote:Here is what the final GUI layout looks like:

Colors are subject to change, and will likely maintain our three-color scheme for ER (early reflections), LR (late reflections), and IN (input/master) sections... Everything is the same color here for mock-up purposes only...
a few control labels intentionally left blank... (top secret...)
there are a few other minor tweaks to do, but you get the idea...
thoughts?
Lovely looking new GUI, Galbanum.
(Bit scared about the current banner advert describing it as an engineer's wet dream though for a computer 'electronic' plug-in

I can appreciate the work that's gone into the new GUI, but... I don't like it. At all. Cold and gray. Boring. But then, I love the old one, so no worries.
Mind you, I'd even use Aether if it was just a bunch of numbers on a grid.

well the colors are actually more diverse than that. Here is basically the final version:

Everyone cool with these colors? (well most everyone... i've certainly learned you can't please everyone when it comes to GUIs...
) I think this is a good compromise between looking clean, and having slight color distinction between ERs LRs, and IN/master controls... And the meter and the Space Picts keep things a little warmer/human while in use too. A good balance all around IMHO...
Thoughts?

What's with the links (home and all)?
I love this, but also love the first skin too!
(just noticed all the locks too!! And is that separate gains for Right and Left?)

The only thing that spoils the GUI for me is the pictures; bit cheezy imho. Just my thoughts. $250? mmm

Links? You mean the 2CAudio site? For the last year, the Aether product page has been the only page on the 2C site. That is why the other links in the nav bar all point back to the product page.
We are beginning to build the full site now in PHP with a fully modern 2010/future web archiectue. Product development was first priority, but now that we are about done (with 1.5) we will move to improving our infrastructure... Expect a new site launch this spring.

I would say that the color isn't different enough between the three sections now. I actually just went to look at the original gui again to confirm that there were three sections of color. Hard to tell apart now. But I'm ok with the original anyways. The new one might grow on me more, but I think it's nice having the different sections color coded (reminds me what the parameters pertain to), and the new colors make it harder to tell apart.Galbanum wrote:well the colors are actually more diverse than that. So how about we just offer two color variations of this skin too?? One blue-ish like this one like this, and one Orange, Green, Blue... Like we did for the original Berlin/indigo skins...
That has got to be very close to achieving world peace, right??

I was just about to post the same comment about colors that Echoes made before me, so yes, I am strongly in favor of a choice such as Orange+Green+Blue.Galbanum wrote:So how about we just offer two color variations of this skin too?? Putting aside the issue of color contrast, I do really like the overall look of the new design. More importantly, I'm excited to hear that 1.5 is nearly finished!

Love this new look Andrew but agree that the knob rings should have the different coloring for each section. Reckon that'll look nice leaping out of the neutral background.

The Xs used as abbreviations on the low and high crossover knobs don't match each other.

so bassically:
http://www.2caudio.com/products/aether/ ... Skin_3.png

Yes??
This is actually how the designer made it, and I was planning to offer this and the narrow hue/blue version...
(my concern with the strong three color distrction version is that it gets rather busy with the pictures also, since they are variable, and I can not control the color scheme of them perfectly without resorting to forcing a mono-chrome things or similar... I guess we just have to live with that... and I should not be such a control freak. )
