It looks like maybe Mac is saying, if MU-Lab will render selected channels to .wav, then allow re-import of the same, maybe you could work around the 6-track limitation.

Does MU-Lab allow you to swap parts in and out, midi and audio both?

By the way, this Synth1 is excellent. I can't wait to hear all of the entries!

You could do a synth1 contest every month!

+1, but that way we'll miss a lot of other interesting synths.
What confuses me is that when I wanted to use Synth1 for something other than OSC it sounded way too metallic. But now when my track is nearly finished, there are no such problems :? Is it some kind of placebo effect? :D
BTW there was a compo in which I took part, and an interesting motto came out of it: "<insert compo name here>: forcing you to write music". I may add even "since 200x"
I hope my English is good enough to explain such things without sounding strange

When I looked yesterday, only Xenobioz had posted up a track (rather good too!).

Is it me, or are we all polishing our pigs ears here? :hihi:

As I've just read a book on the traditions of storytelling as an educational tool in Morocco, Xenobioz's track hit the spot anyhow 8)

Best of luck,
Mouxbar

Polish anything and eventually it will shine.

Hmmmmm, (strokes (own) beard), I think I may just have found the title for my track.

Yes, that's what I meant  I guess it was too late for me too explain it decently, my brain goes to bed before I do :P

I just finished something :3 (!)
Uploaded/uploading a the moment.

Unfortunally it got all distorted. I made 4 really cool guitars, but after reopening the track again the presets were all... mixed up. Now the guitars ar a bit "overamped", which gives a great loss to audio quallity but... i wanted to share it.

Its not the usual stuff i do (you know i am more of the "experimenal"), so this is my first atemp to make a guitar-drum-track-thing)

13 Moons and a Sun too - MA-Simon about 3.35min.
http://www.4shared.com/file/223891333/6 ... -Simo.html

Used 8 Instances of Synth1 (all selfemade, would share if i know how to in Cubase)
Host: Cubase Studio 5
Free Plugins:
FerricTDS (for "underlimiting my overamped guitars" ... -.-)
Reverbering (for Reverb :3)

I should record it to audacity or wavelab then play that as audio? Is that what you mean? That could work I think :) I hope.
It turned out the kittens mittens were hidden in the cats pyjamas all along.

suck my dongle

Hi folks, it looks like the upload link is fixed ... got a message from 4shared confirming that it was indeed a technical problem at their end.

So, thats 4 entries submitted!! Cool! :tu:

You could record it with audacity or whatever, but then you'd have a problem syncing it to the new midi tracks, I think. However, if your daw can play audio tracks, chances are that you can also render your midi to wav within the daw, without using any external programs to record...
See if you have something like "export audio" or "export as wav files" or "export selected tracks to audio" or something like that under some menu. If you have that function, the program will convert the midi track to .wav without you having to play them.
When you have done that, just import the wav file into the song and save it as "version 02" or whatever you prefer, close the midi tracks you had before (now they will be on the audio track!) and add the new midi parts, which will play along with the audio track.
I'm not very good at explaining things, sorry, but step one is: check if you can render/export your midi tracks to audio/.wav with your sequencer, without using external programs. If you can tell us that, then we (mrblitz000, more likely ;-) ) can guide you thru the next steps :)

Cool little trick that not a lot of other synths can do:

1. turn the (AMP) decay and release up to max

2. play a bunch of notes

3. while the notes are sustaining, mess around with the polyphony (Poly) setting.

Rather than cutting off the sound or "forgetting" previously played notes, it keeps them all playing, even if you turn polyphony down to 1. This allows you to make some cool reversing effects, cause notes to jump back into the mix, etc. This might not be news to some people, but I thought I'd share for those who didn't notice it.

Hope there's an epic turnout for this anniversary OSC, and thanks tattiemannie for putting in time on these and keeping them rolling along smoothly, one after the other.

Ctrl-Alt-b in Reaper lets you record midi tracks live along with a media file playing in the transport, and there is an 'Insert' menu, choose 'media file', to browse for what you've got. When the file is loaded, hit rewind in the transport, and press ctrl-alt-b when ready to record, and a dialogue opens to choose name and path and quality. Super easy! :) Start OK to start recording, hit 'play' on the transport, and hits-R-us

Hi. Uploaded mine earlier today. Also first post on kvr!

I haven't really got any music done in a long time, then this thread just happened to catch my eye as interesting, having played around with synth1 before. I also decided to try out Reaper in an actual project since I knew it has some interesting features.
Anyway, unlike i guess the majority here, I'm not much into most electronic music genres. This track attempts to create something not-so-synthish out of this great little synth. Lots of time spent with obsessing about little nuances while arranging, and fighting to get around editing stuff in Reaper. D:<

The song is just 1:46, feels a bit unfinished, but.. yeah, hope you like.

edit:
Oh right.. The song's called Wide Open. Used plugins include 17 Synth1's, couple of reverbs and a few compressors. Some of the synths are layered so it's actually just 11 "instruments".
I can also share the reaper project later if such demand exists.
