I know why physical modelling is needed.
I also have some magic beans I can swap for any livestock you might have.
If you want a simple, free synth, there's Synth1.

75 euros for a simple SE synth using stock SE modules is a ridiculous price. Even at a "discounted" 45 euros it's far too much. I have no problem with SE synths/fx and have bought many products by De La Mancha, NOVUZEIT and other small developers using the same platform. The main issue here (apart from the obvious) being the pricing policy ... I just got 2 synths from dlM (Bassbomb and PULS) for $24 (that's 17 Euros). I would never fork out 101 Euros for LittleOne.

Based on the reasons mentioned above and that a legal version is available now i just purchased LittleOne.Ingonator wrote:Just found this thread on the Moog Music forum:

It's maybe sounding strange based on the synths i already have but the combination of features, sound quality and easy programming of LittleOne seems to be exactly what i was searching for, including the FX (very nice IMO) and the step sequencer.
I searched the database for free synths with similar features (not speaking about those huge synths with endless feature sets...) and the only one close is MiniMogue VA where the GUI is so crowded with knobs, switches and sliders that i never really liked it..
Basically the "limited" amount of features was why Strobe of SynthSquad is one of my favorite synths ever. OK, Strobe has many more features "under the hood" which are not so obvious at the first look.
Same about the Novation Bass Station plugin (the original one...). I guess it's a kind of "art" to do a synth with a minimum amount of features that is still a great tool...
The autiomation is working better in v1.02 since Ableton Live shows the correct parameter names now. After programming my Korg NanoKONTROL with the important controls programming patches is really easy now and i am liking the sound quality more and more. Even if some people her would not agree the quality is really close to Minimonsta IMHO. In typical use the only outstanding features of Minimonsta compared to this is one more OSC and more presets. The Minimonsta/Minimoog does not have the OSC wave morph of the Little Phatty/Litle One and no dedicated step sequencer.
BTW if you want to get unison sounds in LittleOne just set the OSC detune to zero, like in the real Minimoog.

The Little Phatty is mono, and has no fx, so I hardly think this an emulation. And if you're going to give your credit card number to someone who used cracked software to compile this - good luck with that.....

See previous discussions of "analog heat shimmer."I still don't understand why one would need Physical Modeling to emulate a (simple) Moog synth like the Little Phatty?
There's just nothin' like that, is there? Reminds me of the last time I was in Toronto during Pride Week...When i don't have access to my 'main' pants, i go out naked.

In the early days of virtual analog, they were actually referred to as physical modeling. The reasoning is that they simulate (model) analog (physical) circuitry.
If the synth only uses generic or freely available modules then I think I'll skip this one. I recently bought the ME-80. which is also synthedit, but it uses some custom modules. Sylenth1 also started out as a SynthEdit synth, but only for the GUI, not the DSP bits. So I have absolutely no problem with Synthedit synths, it's when they use the same generic modules that they sound generic.

With all respect you should not start a personal vendetta here because someone is competing your indeed nice free SE synths.osiris wrote:The Little Phatty is mono, and has no fx, so I hardly think this an emulation. If you check the new version v1.02 you'll see it a LEGAL version and no one could proof that he didn't have a license before like he told several times. So please stop telling such stupid nonsense. The only (stupid...) fault he made is using a cracked serial for the time he did not have access to his other computer.
On the other hand payment is done by PayPal which is much safer than just "giving a credit card number" away.
WTF?? Do you call me stupid or what?thecontrolcentre wrote:It's OK ... I'm sure he'll only use it when his main card is unavailableosiris wrote:if you're going to give your credit card number to someone who used cracked software to compile this - good luck with that.....
I agree that the price should stay at 45 Euros like it is now and should not be raised later on.
Last thing: If you don't like the synth i have nothing against it but please stop ranting over and over about it. I finally made the decision that i like it so it makes no sense to convince me about contrary.
PS: Perhaps i should stop posting in this thread before i say something for that i could be banned...
At least until someone starts a serious discussion about the synth.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
About the synth:
Something new i found is that if you assign the LFO modulation to "WAVE" you can do PWM modulation or dependant on the starting waveform other wave moprphs. The amount of LFO modulation is assigned to the Modwheel, like in the original Minimoog.

Far to expensive for a synth that i have to copy and rename to use it more than once in a project on my multicoremachine, as good as it may sound. In fact I would not pay 5,00 for it....

Works perfectly in Ableton Live 8.1.1 with Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU here, without renaming.rasmusklump wrote:Far to expensive for a synth that i have to copy and rename to use it more than once in a project on my multicoremachine, as good as it may sound. In fact I would not pay 5,00 for it....
BTW i made 9 "quick" patches for LittleOne:

tip: The modwheel sets the amount of modulation for all patches, like in the original Minimoog.

Have yet to try the new version demo, but did want to congratulate the dev on making good on his word re: Compiling using his legit synth edit.
Probably should be looked at like a lesson learnt.
At least he won't make the same judgement error again.
Escaped by the seat of his 'main pants' I reckon.
Can't wait to see what you come up with next.
LittleOne is a great starter.

you should definitely stop posting in his defense.Ingonator wrote: PS: Perhaps i should stop posting in this thread before i say something for that i could be banned...
why are you so quick to jump in and defend this developer who was caught red-handed using a SE crack? taking things a little personally, no? you're behaving as if you have some kind of connection to this besides just liking the synth when it's not even your place to do this - what motivation do you have to act like this? are you mates?
he screwed up, no matter how much back tracking, and excuses and revisionist bullshit, it deserves to be called out. do you think SE is the only crack he uses at his convenience?
there are too many small-time unsung, honest, hard working developers that pay the fees to buy the software, modules, etc. to let this kind of dishonorable behavior, no matter the circumstance, go unnoticed and forgiven. it's not possible to even justify this shit. he could have simply waited to announce it until he had his pants on or whatever.
osiris is right, it's bullshit, and it's got to be infuriating to be a legitimate honorable up-standing developer amongst thieves like this one.
osiris don't give up, and other devs that are busting your asses doing the right things even if nothing comes of it, at least you are doing the right thing and aren't generating negative karma.

No, we are no mates. It's easy, at the end it's me who decides which synth i like or not and i never said it's the "holy grail" of synthesis or my main synth but it's perfect for what it does.grymmjack wrote:you should definitely stop posting in his defense.Ingonator wrote: PS: Perhaps i should stop posting in this thread before i say something for that i could be banned...

With the FX plus the step- and gate sequencer it's even quite versatile. The sound quality is really good no matter if it's a perfect emulation or not IMHO. The wave morph and modulation based on the original Little Phatty do the rest.
If i hurt osiris' feelings i am sorry but it doesn't mean i will throw away LittleOne and only use Osiris' synths in the future.
The thing about the license is starting to be boring since it's legal now and no one could prove he didn't have one before. I don't know how often i have to repeat this... This is the last time i comment about this and future comments will only be about new patches (look at my last post...) or updates.
Finally all the people here should stop consulting me to be part of a "conspiracy" with the dev. I tnink i explained it well enough in several posts but i guess no one really reads them...
