tip. Use download-them-all

a firefox plugin.
go to http://www.audiocheck.net and collect all the links from that page
Than filter all .wav from the list and click on dl all

Than you have a nice folder filled with testtones which you can use for setting up your virtual studio / speaker / headphone / tool set

You guys are nuts or completely blinded by the price. I don't care even if it was a 1$ plugin, I'm not buying stuff I'm certain I can use at least once and this kind of plugin that needs careful setup (even the manual mentions that the setup process will take some time) and time to get used to it's processing sure as hell doesn't need a loud beep in it's demo. This is pure insanity.

EDIT: I'm 99% sure you guys who don't mind the beep don't actually understand the plugin itself and what it is supposed to do for you (or you go on pure blind faith and dumb luck). It is a mixing aid. You can not get an opinion on it just by quickly switching it on and tweaking some parameters. You need to MIX through it, several times probably, and then check your mixes on other systems for reference to see if the plugin actually works or not. How the hell you are going to mix through a plugin that keeps beeping is beyond my understanding.

That's a little bit harsh bManic.

I fully understand how the plugin works and I didn't mind the beep. I was able to tune it out mentally and tweak away. I got it set up perfectly and ran through some mixes several times before buying.

Me too! every time I hear a dropout my mind immediately starts into troubleshooting mode. I remember one time long ago, I was demoing a plugin that used the dropout method every 30 seconds or something. I closed the project and clicked save with the demo plug still on the master bus. The next time I opened the project, I had forgotten that it was there. I spent almost an hour troubleshooting my sound card and signal path. I was a bit embarrassed once I realized it was just a plugin in demo mode on the master bus.

I'll take beeps and white noise any day over dropouts.

So did anyone actually apply this plugin on a whole mix and compared to an actual listening environment?
How are the results?

There are several such products on the market (room corrections (IKMM), mixing in headphone environments (redline, phonitor)) etc...
Some are $2000, some are 20 euros and some are in between.
Does anyone know if the $2000 gives much better results or if Isone is 90% close to the end result?

Macmurphy Hi,
I don't know how that third reply to the thread you linked to knew that you used isone.
Anyway, would you recommend it?
I didn't listen yet to your track but would you say that the good feedback you got is largely due to you using Isone? would you have gotten the same results without the plug?

Thanks for the feedback. I'm trying to decide whether to get it or look at the competition (I know it's fairly cheap but still...).

I believe Jeff (third reply) followed a link i posted earlier in this thread.

I would like to think i would have got positive replies whether i used Isone or not

I had previously posted a rough mix of the track (without Isone) which you can find here - http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... highlight= if you want to compare.

After mixing with Isone, i can say that i wouldn't have got the same results without it. Being able to listen through emulations of different speakers enabled me to make better informed adjustments to the mix.

I would recommend Isone. It can never hurt to hear your mix in a different context, and being able to do that without having to burn a cd or move to another studio/system or test it in a car etc is very convenient.
However, i think it's very important to a/b with headphones(+Isone) and monitors(-Isone) before making final mix decisions.

Totally agree. Nothing like taking a CD to the living room music system or out to the car and wondering what happened to the mix. Being able to get a sense for how different the same mix can be on other equipment while enjoying a freshly poured pint in the "studio" is a big plus.

For those who have been using it...what seems to be a good preset to mix on?
I don't own any of the near field monitors listed.
I use an old pair of Alesis M1 MK11 monitors and Audio-Technica ATH M50 headphones.

I'd suggest listening to favorite CDs that you know well and trying different presets. The one that seems closest to your monitor setup or you like best is it.

I'll have to try to get things dialed in to match my monitors, home stereo and truck stereo. Will be great having all these systems models at a push of a button. What's cool about this plugin is that it has some very well know studio monitors already builted in. One thing I've wondered about is what headphones were used as reference when Jeroen Breebaart was designing this plugin?
