It is, isn't it? I'm glad you say this, and I so wish I could let you hear the complete recording - it's really like a sort of symphony! I love the way the centrifugal cycle comes in after some quiet pieces, and the very rhythmical cycles where laundry tumbles and then water flows in and all over again, and the bits where all you hear is just water softly gurgling and the clock ticking!

...but the noise when you hit it is just soooo lovely 8)
Sounds interesting, any way for you to record it and let us hear it?

By the way, I'm avoiding listening to the tracks you guys are uploading until I manage to upload mine, I'm afraid this time the competition may be too tough for me to find the courage if I hear what the rivals come up with... and I already feel bad thinking of when I'll have to vote, choosing will be soooo hard :( :(

He interesting with the washing machine sounds. Read on your site before it was one of your fav sounds and the fact sort of stuck so now find myself paying attention to my own machine and agree it makes a sweet soothing sound!

Speaking of ambient sounds for sleeping, one I've been looking for is the background hum from the Star Trek series. That is a great sound and would be nice to have when entering alpha state and beyond.. :drunk:

Which series are you referring to? I love the background bridge noises from the original series and have wanted to make an endless loop of it to sleep to for ages! the Enterprise ncc 1701 D's sound I don't remember, I have to listen to it again... I have to remember to, tomorrow :)

Well most of them, but the one from Next Generation is the one that caused me to want it. I've tried a few things to recreate it, but no luck so far.

Post

I found this, but I don't know which one it refers to:
"The definitive rumble of the starship Enterprise was invented by sound effects creator Alan Howarth, who has worked on every Star Trek film. He created the ship's sound from a white noise generator, plus an exhaust fan, plus the air conditioner at Paramount Studios."

It might be a reason why, even with your ability, you haven't been able to reproduce it... It's kind of like the original Godzilla roar or Tarzan's yell - part "electronic" but mostly of organic origin. But again, I don't know if this was about TNG's Enterprise or what. I believe TNG's sound designers used some samplers, anyway, like Fairlight CMI or Emulator. In that case, it'd be impossible to recreate identical sounds without the original samples :(
Anyway guys, sorry for temporarily stealing the thread, back to the OSC!!! :)

Post

Cool, and yea makes sense there is an organic element in there as the ones I tried to make were very flat sounding.

Tattiemannie - is the 4shared upload page working now? I tried it earlier this evening a couple of times and all I got was a blank screen.

Red peppers in dynamite sauce? I must have been out of my mind!

Hi folks, I just got back from a gig, so catching up on things ... yeah Major B, the folder appears to be fine now ... as I said, there is some site maintainance going on, so we might have periods where there are glitches.

Uffffff... Image I did it!!! Image

Nice song, makes me want to watch a James Bond movie! :) The percussion/rythm is pretty special, carries things along without monotony.
If you don't mind, which version of linux, and which window manager are you using?
I don't recognize anything on the taskbar :?

I use this, a pclinuxos realtime mini audio distro:

RXS-Test2.iso

Cheers

Thanks! :)
Calculate Linux 9.6 (Gentoo-based): http://www.calculate-linux.org/en
XFCE 4.6.1 (tackbar style changed by means of custom images and ~/.gtkrc), GTK & windowmanager theme - Nimbus.

Sorry for my bad English :)

Cheers for the submission Steplton! :) ... welcome to OSC, and good luck with your track!

Hi Tattie welcome back,

could you please remove "Another Soundtrack - OSCXIII - Yeager.mp3" and rename the (2) version.
I slapped FerricTDS on the masterbus, and it sounds sooo much better now ( to me ).
Also I had more "luck" with the freerunning oscillators in synth1 ( I hate those ) during the rendering of the track.
It's louder and more distorted, but I think it needed that.
Thanks in advance.

So now the track consists of :

25 x Synth1.

Track Fx :

1 x Jb Omniverb
1 x ReaComp
1 x Blockfish.

Some trackEQ, no automation, no washing mashine, no talent.

Master Fx :

1 x NyquistEq
1 x VoxengoMSED
1 x FerricTDS <- nice !
1 x Tls Maximizer.

Thats all (for now).
