Always refer someone, even if you make up a name!

Well, we epointz junkies always want the referral, but remember that you get $5 in epointz for referring.

OK I'll refer KEITH EMERSON, seeing as he bought last time and if I can buy a ticket to see him in July then the least he can do is buy into this GB :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I'm just wondering if it'd be better for me to wait for that to be released, rather than joining this group buy.
Well, they are two separate products. This is from Drum Masters 2 Signature Series and by getting this AND the previous Ultimate Studio Drums Bundle you'd not only have all of the kits from Drum Masters 2 Signature Kits Vol. 1 and 2 but you'd have 13 Ocean Way Drum kits and other extras as well. So it is better to get in on this than the full products when released.

But if you're looking only for discrete mic mixing then products like Drum Masters 2 Multitrack Edition and EpiK DrumS - A Ken Scott Collection are getting very close to completion... just different content, different price points as well. It's hard to say which will be released first of the two because they are being worked on simultaneously. Both will be within weeks of each other and definitely before this Group Buy ends. Although this group buy bundle will ALSO qualify for a discounted upgrade to those two as well so from that standpoint it makes that much more sense to get this AND the Multitrack since you'll have at least $50 off DM2 Multitrack and around $100 off EpiK DrumS - A Ken Scott Collection.

Good stuff. You'd have to refer his tech whose name is also Keith.

Actually I believe it does have to be a real name for it to work. But luckily we have a whole thread Dark Star made for this!

I think one of the better things I can do in these threads is tell stories... so it balances the "reminders" of info posts (which are also good so keep it up guys! Just ignore those Zedd!).

There's a little thing about Omar Hakim here: http://www.gearslutz.com/board/group-bu ... ost5126999

Alright so I will tell you a little bit about working with T-Bone Burnette and Sam Phillips. T-Bone is an extremely successful producer who has made a lot of albums including ones with his then wife Sam Phillips, Wallflowers, Counting Crows, Elvis Costello, Roy Orbison and many others... also working on film soundtracks and I believe he won an Oscar with Sting for Oh Brother Where Art Thou... he's always doing something. At the time I met him they were looking for Chamberlin sounds for their keyboardist Mark Hart to use on Sam Phillips' "Cruel Inventions" tour. She was opening for Elvis Costello.

I had been brought up to T-Bone by Mitchel Froom who knew me through working with Neil Finn & Crowded House. I believe it was through Mitchel that I was recommended to T-Bone. It may have been someone else like Tchad Blake who helped fix my Optigan once... another engineer who did some amazing work on records then and later on. This was early 90's.

So for my first meeting with T-Bone they had me come down to Ocean Way which I had never been to before. They gave me the record and asked me to sample all the various Chamberlin and other quirky sounds like Optigan and whatever else (even Mark's MKS30 for a few things). So I did and became friends with Mark who later hired me to help him with sounds on a Ringo Starr album he played on and ironically he ended up joining Crowded House who I had already worked with before. Now that he was in the band I hung out with them all the time and there are some good stories about being on their bus and backstage on the WOMAD festival where I was playing with Gabriel's "double violinist" L. Shankar and they were on the tour as well... man, a lot of people were on that tour and I have some great footage cruizing around behind the scenes too. I need to find a way to transfer that stuff from my old HI 8 camera which doesn't work anymore... hmmmm, one of these days.

Anyway, working with T-Bone and Sam was great and led to a lot of other things. I ended up playing a folding harmonium (like a pump organ) that I borrowed from Jon Brion (and then sampled...) on Sam's album Martinis and Bikinis. That too was done at Ocean Way. At that time I had never met Allen Sides but I heard all about him. Little did I know that years later I'd be co-producing a drum sample collection with him.

Yep. You can refer him if you want. He doesn't have any epointz!

For those V-Drummers who were in the previous Ultimate Studio Drums Bundle Group Buy:

Okay, so if you purchase Ultimate Studio Drums Bundle 1 then you have the NDV Gretsch STm kit which is what we did the beta hi hat with. We've gone through a few revisions on it and it seems Beta 4 is doing what it is supposed to be doing. We're going to be testing it on a variety of different kits... we actually went out and bought a bunch of different ones the other day just to be able to try them all. We may very well be going TOO far for e-Drummers here but at least you know we're dedicated.

Anyway, if you're confident you have everything set up and working well with the Ultimate Studio Drums Bundle in the first place then give this a go. It's only the V-Drum mode that does this, not the other modes and not "Custom" yet so if you're not using a V-Drum then you'd have to map your module to the notes... I'll have to dig up what they are exactly if you want to do that. But, maybe just V-Drummers try it and see what you think.

http://www.sonicreality.com/squidscorne ... _Beta4.zip

This beta 4 NKM "multi" file called "DM2 NDV STm Grtsch VDRM Beta 4.nkm" should just be dragged and dropped inside the Ultimate Studio Drums folder that is within the Multis folder. Just drop it in there and it should load okay. (Don't use this with the Library Installer as I zipped this on my Mac on the weekend here... the lib installer only works with zips done on a PC). This is a full kit with the hi hat beta inside it (nothing else is changed). But you WILL need to have previously installed the NDV Gretsch kit from the Ultimate Studio Drums bundle to use this as it is JUST the patch (not the samples). It will reference the samples if you put the file into the right place - the place I just said:

Infinite Player/Multis/Ultimate Studio Drums/DM2 NDV STm Grtsch VDRM Beta 4.nkm

Hope you like it! If you DO have a border setting you might want to try 90. But I have heard reports it works well also on kits that don't have border (and is apparently set to 127). We're going to test all of that ourselves on Monday with all of these toys now. But if you're anxious to try it out yourself have fun.
