Anyhow, nice track! I love funk, and this is pretty satisfying. I felt the lead guitar was maybe too soaked in reverb, and yes, some of the drums fit better than others, but overall really well done.

The bass breakdown made me think of a track that I probably haven't heard for 30 years:

Cool! I'm going to thank everyone individually (my Mother didn't really smoke when she was pregnant with me but she did teach me to be polite thanks Mom!). And so I hope I don't sound like I'm fawning.

When I ask for help with the mix, production etc I really am not satisfied with the track (or most all my tracks). I'm not just fishing for compliments-though I appreciate them very much.

Mixing, EQing, Compression, Mastering etc is still very much a mystery to me.

I've only just learned from KVR peeps that putting low pass filters can actually bring the bass (& other instruments-kick) forward and clean out some of the low end energy (mud).

And so thank you KVR for pimpen my world! (I know, I need to get a life!)

I like it!!! Not too much to tweak, except tighten up on the scratch FX, roll off some of the bass on the "It's Alive" vocal snippet (sounds a little muddy).

And in the bass/bridge breakdown in the middle of the track, add just a little more of the solo guitar strums/hits on top. The bass/bridge solo is missing a little something going by itself there in the middle.

It's awesome. Did you do play/record this all via midi keyboard, or did you use some pre-canned midi files, or special controller?

This is the kind of critique I really find helpful and will apply all your suggestions.

I played all the parts in real time using my guitar as a midi controller and I played the rhythm guitar parts with my strat-they are a bit sloppy if you listen close-not manipulation though I'm not apposed to that.

This reminded me of that early 90s smooth jazz style with a lot of hip-hop influence made popular by Ronnie Jordan and flute player Phillip Bent. Yours is probably a jam more than a real song though, but that fits fine with this particular style of music.

Yes! It was a typo-installed is what I should have said dah? I spelled Trilian wrong in my title-double dah?

I would prefer the snare (in the first loop) to be a little more prominent and sharp in the mix though, but I'm listening on small computer speakers so perhaps my perception is a bit fooled by this. The second loop (after "Give me some bass") is brighter and more upfront which makes a better groove with the bass imo. Also, you could consider lowering the level of the bass a tad, at least in the first part where it plays with the first drum loop. Or perhaps some equing could do the trick, taming the low-mids a little. I hope you find my comments useful.

This is a sort of jam band thang I did when I first down loaded Spectrasonic's totally awesome Trilian.

A friend came over a few days ago (he is actually a sound tech guy for a tiny studio in the area where M&M records) and he tweaked my very modest set up-some my levels were REALY screwed up-so maybe this will help.

I really wouldn't worry too much about the perfect tweak on these funk tracks of yours as the lofi sound adds to them rather than detracts.
