In the V-Drum hi hats there's something in the hardware unit called the "border" which determines when the closed note output switches to an open note output. Some V-Drum kits let you set it (and we set it to 90 by default for a VH-12 in our TD20 which seemed best) and some don't let you adjust the border... and it is most likely 127. What that means is that if you press the hat all the way down it is at 127 and as soon as you lift it up a little bit (126-0) it is triggering the open note. Either way our script handles it, you'd just miss out on some real time envelope control of the closed if you don't have a border setting but this is subtle.

It should be because even without the border control your hi hat still does have a border - just not something that can be edited by you. But the more important thing is that your hi hat is sending a CC4 message and the hi hat script is now responding in various ways to that message. You're not imagining it.

I'm just wondering if it'd be better for me to wait for that to be released, rather than joining this group buy.

Well, they are two separate products. This is from Drum Masters 2 Signature Series and by getting this AND the previous Ultimate Studio Drums Bundle you'd not only have all of the kits from Drum Masters 2 Signature Kits Vol. 1 and 2 but you'd have 13 Ocean Way Drum kits and other extras as well. So it is better to get in on this than the full products when released.

But if you're looking only for discrete mic mixing then products like Drum Masters 2 Multitrack Edition and EpiK DrumS - A Ken Scott Collection are getting very close to completion... just different content, different price points as well. It's hard to say which will be released first of the two because they are being worked on simultaneously. Both will be within weeks of each other and definitely before this Group Buy ends. Although this group buy bundle will ALSO qualify for a discounted upgrade to those two as well so from that standpoint it makes that much more sense to get this AND the Multitrack since you'll have at least $50 off DM2 Multitrack and around $100 off EpiK DrumS - A Ken Scott Collection.

I already bought the 1st group buy (which was a great deal). If I bought the 2nd group buy as well, does that mean I can have $100 off DM2 Multitrack?

No, it's the same coupon code that both qualify for. Also, multiple coupons can't be used on esoundz for the same product.

do the ocean way Dl kits work in kontakt? or do you need the ow player?

The OWD player is different from the IP, so you will need the OWD player for OW Download kits. In the last gb there were some OW kits, but that was a one time thing.

It WILL work in full Kontakt. But NI requires that you authorize the Ocean Way Expandable Player Library in order to use the sounds outside of "demo mode" in Kontakt. This is how NI's third party Kontakt Player instruments work. They have to be authorized and activated via a serial number that you get when you purchase that product. In other words, there is no way around getting the Ocean Way Drums Expandable Player to use within Kontakt (whether it is the free Kontakt Player 4 or the full version). It is the "gateway" to be able to use those sounds and needed.

In the previous Group Buy "Ultimate Studio Drums" bundle 1, however, the bundled OWD kits in that collection work with the "Infinite Player" (also a library to authorize within Kontakt Player or full Kontakt - the difference being that it reads all other Sonic Reality Kontakt/IP sounds besides just drums).

Hey Squids, i am really interested especially in the Stewart Copeland kit. I think i would buy this group buy just to get some really good octoban samples. Everything else is bonus!! can you tell me how many octobans were sampled?? im guessing its not a full set of eight, but stewart used four. can you talk about the rest of the copeland kit??is it his current blue sparkle Tama signature kit and if so is the gong tom sampled, or the blue bell ride?? or is it the copeland snare, octobans and some other drums and cymbals set up to mimic his sound?? I think you mentioned before that a more comprehensive copeland signature kit would be released in the future..??

Well, normally in the case of OWD DL Edition, Silver, Gold or Platinum Edition that library serial for the OWD Expandable Player is INCLUDED with the product. But when broken down a la carte like that the library license is SEPARATED for those that already have it and don't need it a second time. Instead they can have JUST additional kits a la carte to add to their system. We went through a lot of extra trouble just to be able to offer that. It's hardly a shame! It allows one to get various combinations of kits depending on their budget or over time. Ocean Way Drums Gold was originally (and still is) an $800 product. So to be able to get the same quality and sounding kits for under $200 with the various combinations of kits and third party library licenses is a pretty significant thing for anyone on a budget. That was the whole point. But we cannot get around how NI does their licensing and copy protection. That is just part of the products - all Kontakt Player-based third party products, not just this one.

A more comprehensive kit will be in the future with Hugh Padgham who produced and engineered The Police. What we have in this is just the Stewart Copeland Signature snare with a Tama Star Classic set to somewhat mimic that sound. The Octobans are not extensively sampled and there's 3 (or maybe 4, I have to check). They're cool to have for sure but I wouldn't buy this JUST for that and everything else being the bonus. It is more the other way around. But, I will say that at $99 (or even $129) it is a diverse collection that no matter how you slice it is totally worth the money... as long as you like other drum sounds too!

But really the Octobans in this are good but if you really want the ultimate Octobans then that will be coming later... and we'll sample all 8 with a zillion alts etc. These are just fun extras like the hi and low Rotos which are also cool in this bundle. I will show some demos soon of the Octobans and Low Rotos as well as the Signature kits/snares this coming week. Plus... something else I've been working on that I might just throw into this bundle. But first I'd like to see some action in this thread. I hope everyone isn't tired of Group Buys. Remember they can ONLY exist with your help... otherwise they're not a group buy! Just a promo. We can do that too but let's keep these Group Buys alive! Join in the fun. Pick up some epointz while you're at it.

Sorry 'bout that. I didn't mean to imply that they wouldn't work in Kontakt. In fact, I use them in Kontakt 3.5.
