You didn't changed the XP-product-ID to the Win 7-Product-ID in the registy after the installation, didn't you ?

Instead you changed it before the installation via CD !

If you did it this way, and it doesn't work, then the Waldorf Edition
behaves definitely different against the Komplexer installation.

Or has the string length of the Product-ID changed since Win 7 eventually ?
I did the registry mod and in the ProductID and used the Win 7 ID instead of the XP Product ID and then installed from the CD. It installed correctly. But when I try to use the VST it says to install it again.

Are you saying to install the PPG from the CD with the XP product ID and then change it to the Win 7 product ID to use it?

No, the way you did it, is the same as I did with Komplexer on Vista 64
(in my case of course with the Vista Product-ID).
You say, that you could install it correctly - ok, so this part seems to work
with the Product-ID.

Did you delete the new created registry entry after the installation ? If you did this (like I also did with my first tries), then the plugin won't work, instead an error message will show up, to install the plugin again.

no, I did not delete the registry. I hoped it would work with the win 7 product id but it did not.

Pfff...,
ok, last try...
I installed Komplexer with an account with admin priviligies and DEP only activated for Windows tasks, also UAC turned off.
Otherwise I can't help you, sorry, and you should urge Waldorf to resolve this issue (it's really shameful imho, that they're not able to provide an installer, which works with a 64bit system...)

Cheers

I agree. I hope they release an installer. It's a really good VST and I think it just makes them look extremely bad if they do not provide support to their products. People will just stop buying their stuff.

I thought it was a problem with Cubase but works with other apps. Where are you trying to use it?

Well, VSM works here on Vista 64 in Cubase 32 bit.

But also had the problem with the dumb installer, which isn't ready for a 64bit system. It won't let you install VSM.

Luckily there was a workaround: I just copied the whole program folder and the VST dll over from my XP Installation on my old PC to the new one, afterwards I opened regedit and recreated the complete GForce key (in XP under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\) in Vista 64 (now under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\). I also changed the value of 'APPDIR' to C:\Program Files (x86)\GForce\String Machine\

But nonetheless, GForce should provide an updated installer.

On windows 7, problems with installing apps can sometimes be resolved by right click over the installer and choose 'install as admin' or something like that.

Worked for me with a number of VST installers.

as losan wrote !

Did anyone ever find a way to install PPG Wave 2.V? I'm trying to reinstall my softsynths on a new computer and running into this "Authorization failed" error too for my original Steinberg PPG Wave 2.V. Any pointers to the solution much appreciated.

Do you mean the old Steinberg PPG Wave 2.V without the full Waldorf Edition that adds Attack and D-Pole? This does no longer seem to be officially supported by Waldorf. Currently only Waldorf Edition 2 is supported and Updates are still done for this. In the last 3 years 64-bit, VST3 and AAX support was added and additionally als official NKS support for NI Komplete Kontrol software/hardware. Attack has some additional features too now including effects and more samples.

Owners of PPG Wave 2.V could buy the Upgrade version of Waldorf Edition 2:
https://waldorfmusic.com/en/waldorf-edi ... on-upgrade

Since a longer time Waldorf Edition uses a serial number protection like this years also implemented in the other Waldorf plugins. In the past owners of the old CD protected Waldorf Edition (AFAIK not the single PPG Wave 2.V plugin) could ask Waldorf support for a new serial without extra payment.

Anyway if you do not want to upgrade to Waldorf Edition 2 the best would be to contaxct official support:
