tattiemannie wrote:Anyone have any news re. MaxSynths? I gather he's had some probs with his PC, or server?
Last time I heard from him, he was writing me from an internet cafè or something to let me know he had trouble again with his internet connection and he would write me as soon as it was back to normal, but it was months ago...
It's not so unusual for him, but I'm beginning to get a bit worried nonetheless...

Post

Kaiyoti, if there is a prob with your track, as Orbik has suggested is a possibility, gimme a shout, there's still time :)

Post

Yeah Mac, it is a worry ... as well as obvious concern for his wellbeing, there is the prob that we're stuck on OSC 12 as I cant offer Cryologic as a prize until Max resumes contact. Is there any other way we can catch up with him? :?

Post

Unfortunately, I only have his email address, unless I manage to find his home address and send him a postcard...
I'll see what I can do.
I have the zip of the first version of Cryologic (without aftertouch on/off button), if that can do for the moment, I can let you have it and when he comes back he can send the new one. Let me know.

Post

Thats very kind of you Mac, but I dont really feel comfortable doing that without permission from Max .... maybe a postcard would be the way to go, I would appreciate if you could do that ... be good to know how he's doing.

kaiyoti wrote:Thanks, Tattiemannie, can you delete the original one? the one without a (2) in front. I had the wrong version uploaded.
Are you sure this is the right version? I mean first one was clipping but now it's even more! I'd ease on the dynamic compression too but I guess it's a matter of taste. Otherwise sounds interesting. :)
Heh, I know this |----| much about mastering. I believe it's currently soft clipped. Which I can generally live with since I don't know what to do beyond this. The latest version has the extra bass at the end.

Well, that's my effort uploaded:

Final Frontier

Host:
Reaper

11 instances of Synth1

Track FX:
Host EQ (ReaFir) on most tracks
Blockfish x 2
Kjaerhus Classic Compressor x 2
Kjaerhus Classic Delay x 1

Master:
ReaFir
DensitymkII

Only the second track I've ever finished (the first was for the Crystal OSC), so hopefully slightly better than my previous effort.

Somewhat conventional track I know but I'm still learning the trade.

Red peppers in dynamite sauce? I must have been out of my mind!

Sunny Ode - dwsel

In total:
10 x synth1
7 x Antress Modern Equalizer
2 x Antress Modern FireChainer

MU.LAB 3.0.27

Drums:
7 x Synth1 (BD, SD, Clap, OHH, PHH, CYM, TOM)
5 x Antress Modern Equalizer

Melody:
2 x Synth1
2 x Antress Modern Equalizer
1 x Antress Modern FireChainer

SAVIHost

1 x Sytnh1
Composition does not contain bass, but it still had to be filled with some supporting sounds to be not empty. I just played some chords on my computer's keyboard (meh... I have to buy finally that MIDI cable :)

Audacity 1.3.9

GLAME Lowpass Filter, GLAME Highpass Filter, Mag's Notch Filter, Multiband EQ, Single band parametric (poor 3 tracks that went through such treatment, but I like these Audacity filters)

1 x Antress Modern FireChainer (just a bit at the end)

As a sidetopic I can say that I 'composed' this song when I was 5 or 6. Will of recreating the song score of which was never written down came to me about month ago. Through years I can remember words of first verse and chorus as well as brilliant :hihi: melody. Ah... and I added the second part (of course not included in original version :D ) inspired by sound of preset I've chosen to work with.

Cheers :D

Hey, I see you're redesigning your website - good, because I was never able to visit your previous one because of my prehistoric computer... I'll finally be able to find out what you do when you're not taking part in the OSC's :)

Post

By the way, do you happen to know Hal MCGee? I think he's from Louisville, too...
