Quick question - are the Slate EX packs a downloadable product?

Post

Apparently they are. But I couldn't use epointz against them :(

Post

Yes - the Slate EX's are downloads. Esoundz gave me a code to login for my download direct from SSD (not esoundz/downloadablesoundz).

I think, in total, the Metal Ex was a couple GBs.

Post

I'm just guessing, but I don't think epointz can be used for the SSD stuff. Generally speaking, epointz is for Sonic Reality downloadable stuff.

I bought Groove Monkee MIDI stuff once with epointz...

I am torn between getting the rest of the SSD expansions for the awesome price of $30 apiece (so $150 total) or getting these two GBs ($200 total). Anyone with pros or cons either way? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

I think it's all a matter of taste. SSD has a clearly defined sound, I'd say it's for "contemporary rock".

I like both, but if I have to choose, SR's Drum Masters without a doubt: It covers all bases with a ten out of ten mark.

The GB gives you drums with an insane amount of tweakability if you want to use it. This can be a pro or a con depending on how much you enjoy setting up your drum sound. As I understand it, the Slate drums have a good bit of tweakability as well, but I get the understanding that they're mostly meant to give you a pretty quick, easy, and ready-to-go drum sound.

The GB costs more, but you get a LOT more kit for that price....which will also mean a heck of a large amount of hard drive space to go with it. You also get the infinite player (if I recall what Squids said earlier) for free if you buy both group buys....and you can use it for a lot of other current and future products at esoundz. So, that would be a plus.

I have a feeling that I might not have made anything clearer for you... :hihi:

At any rate, whichever you go with, you're going to end up with some killer drums. Isn't that what's important?

This was my question as someone on the Cakewalk forums said they used epoitz for a purchase of an EX pack.

Now that you mention it, I did too!

I could be wrong. It wouldn't surprise me.

The last thing I ever expect to get from this forum is clarity! :) But you did help me a bit with my decision. After listening to the different samples and reading more, I think I agree that the key difference is tweakability vs ready out of the box. Think the group buy is more for me so referral points will go to you jsp1979. Thanks.
