Whilst you're removing orbik's track could you take one of mine out too?

Delete the first one that appears, "Land of Green Ginger - Mr wobble" and leave the one that is just plain "Land of Green Ginger".

Sorry to be a pain. The deadline caught me on the hop (thought the 25th was today, Friday) and I did my final mix last night using cans - I wasn't sure about the bass levels, so I hedged my bets and did two mixes (tbh, I'm still not so sure which sounds better, if either, oh well...).

OK, I'll remove those extraneous tracks,

wakkadude, v'ger .... well done for beating the deadline! Cheers for the submissions ... we def have a record number of entries now!

If you're thinking about changing it I say go for orbik's suggestion - it's way more flexible.

(and thanks for removing my track, not to mention a more general thanks for all of your hard work)

re. voting system, I am assuming that the general concensus has not changed greatly since the last set of discussions ... when we adopted the multivote system, so whilst I see merit in the system advocated by orbik, I remain to be convinced that the majority of OSCers want to do it that way .... hence my proposal above which is a compromise between holding with the usual system, whilst adding a degree of extra flexibility.

But as always, make some noise, and I'll listen ... its not a problem to change if change is what we want! :)

I second orbik's proposition, that way we'll have more flexibility. We may find 10 points too much, so better divide it between the contestants. (In previous comp I'd better divide some votes between Rellik-Xenobioz-V'ger, I think you'll agree :wink: )

It's funny, if you think about it; having to many tools to your disposal is often quite a jawbreaker and an inspiration killer too! And it applies to about anything, not just music making...

The number of people taking part has changed a fair bit since then?

The 10,7,5,4,3,2,1 system doesn't seem to me to be a compromise. If anything it makes deciding more difficult - you would have to pick and arrange in order 7 tracks, not 5. With orbik's system, if you so choose, you can vote for just 3 tracks, or award multiple tracks the same points, or go for a straight 4,3,2,1 etc...

If the consensus is against it, no problem :shrug:

How about the scale:

10, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, -1, -2, -3, -4, -5, -10

so we can show adequate disapproval of those burying the synth under FX. :P

By the way, I have to get this off my chest but I freely admit to using Kjaerhus Classic Delay for one instance of the synth equivalent to about 2 seconds of my track Final Frontier in total. See if you can hear it. :wink:

Anyway, seriously: Tattie has to do the counting, and that's not easy. He's not paid to do this, so I think we should just go with the easiest way for him to count the votes.

Yeah hakey, I recognise there have been comings and goings since the last discussion, thats why I'm standing off for now and allowing some time to read a collection of views before I decide ... its just that it was quite emphatic in the previous discussion, and I know there were folks who added their voice then who are still involved :)

3 pages follow this one with bits of discussion popping up between all the other mayhem .. takes a bit of picking through, but demonstrates the swing away from my suggestion of a flexible system like Orbik's, to a fixed votes system. This was also supported in a couple of PMs I recieved, which I have since deleted and cant remember who they were from :oops:

... But hey, carry, on discussing, and if anyone has changed their mind, now is a good time to say so! :)

By the way, If i were to chose the voting system i think i'd go with Orbics style. But thats a personal preference, just seems a bit easier to cast votes in that manner.

although, i wouldn't mind the other systems.

And I have to second what Mac said; it really should be up to Tattie, as he is the one doing the counting and stuff.

Hopefully the voting process will start off soon
