I am trying to find a good and easy to use vocoder that you can use in Ableton Live and retain stereo image of the carrier wave.

I suppose this is only possible with a vocoder that creates separate side-chain inputs so that they are visible an choosable in ableton Live. I have read some articles and have the impression that if you have a vocoder with working sidechain in Live, when you the audio output to an audio track (or VST synth track) to the track that has the vocoder, you should have an option below the audio output field an option to choose the sidechain input. But for me, the box stays gray, and the only visible option is "Track In".

I have tried the following Vocoders, Waves Morphoder, Orange Vocoder, MDA TalkBox, and MDA Vocoder, and none of them show sidechain inputs. I am not sure about the MDA or Orange, but in Waves manual it reads that there is a sidechain input in Morphoder and i have chosen Sidechain as the carrier.

Maybe I have old, buggy versions..?

And yes, I know that you can e.g. set the Orange Vocoder in such way that you send Carrier to L channel and Modulator to R (or vice versa), but in such way I suppose that you lose the stereo information of the carrier.

Anyway, can you recommend anything? Maybe NI Vocator, Image Line Vocodex, Ableton Lives own Vocoder..?, or maybe just using Absynth or FM8 or some other synth as Vocoder..?

the vocoder in live8 accepts an external carrier source (ie, from another track/instrument) if that's what you mean?

OP's talking about retaining the stereo image of the carrier signal, which would require at least three inputs (one for mod, two for stereo carrier).

All the vocoders I've tried (admittedly only a few) work on a dual mono input - one channel as carrier, the other as modulator.
I tend to run two in parallel for true stereo (pita, yes, but sounds better).

I use FLS but haven't tried Vocodex - maybe with FL's new sidechain support it'll do stereo, must check.

the live vocoder sits on a strereo audio track (the mod) and takes another stereo audio source as the carrier - seemingly dual-stereo - is that not it?

That actually sounds exactly what the OP (and me) is after :tu:. Apologies :)
