Here we go again, time for you to cast your votes the best Synth1 only track. :)

See thread... http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... sc&start=0

Yep, its our 1st Anniversary comp, and this voting phase will take us through (Feb 28) the 1st anniversary of when the One Synth challenge was first concieved on KVR.

We have a record 27 entries!! ...
.... so we will once again go for a multi-vote system.... but with a difference! :-o

As a voter you have a maximum 26 points to share out between what you feel are most deserving of those points.
Why 26? Why not? ( read page 26 of the above thread! )

You can allocate a maximum of 10 points to any individual track, and you can split those votes as you wish between a maximum of 10 tracks.
All your points must be allocated in a single post ... something like this ...

track xyz ... 10 points
track ywz ... 6 points
track xzy ... 3 points
track zzv ... 3 points
track yzx ... 2 points
track xzy ... 1 point
track yyx ... 1 point

Or you can go with 5, 4, 4, 3, 2, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1 ... or a miserly 3, 2, 1, :-o ... or whatever ....... ( and please do a count to make sure there's no more than 26 ... otherwise, I have to do it!! )

Please listen to all the tracks before casting a vote ... I know it takes a while, but its the only fair way to do things ... Criteria for your voting decision is up to you, but I ask that you take at least some account of the range, nature, use of the synths sounds in your decisions.

So here's how!
@@Go to the online folder ....
http://www.4shared.com/dir/21373365/665 ... lenge.html

Here you can listen to individual tracks, and read accompanying notes re. what what was used in their making. You can download individual tracks as you wish.

Alternatively, from the same link/folder, you can also download the zipped folder '00 - Synth1 tracks'
This will be a lot quicker than downloading individual tracks, You will then have all the tracks in one place to at your leisure, .... think about it as your free ( double ? ) album .... a gift in exchange for making a contribution to the comp! :)

You can also access the tracks via a playlist here ....

http://www.4shared.com/play/21373365/66 ... lenge.html

( **** note **** if you experience difficulty accessing the above files, dont give up, try a different browser ... IE seems to work better than some browsers. )

Reviews, however brief, are always welcome, but even if you can only find the time to add a short comment, then please do! ...it keeps the thread alive, and encourages others to listen/vote. I will do a review when I can grab a bit of time to do the job justice.

**Closing date for votes will be the Monday 14th of March

....Enjoy the music! :)

Note .... I will tally the votes and post updates as the votes come in.... and I'm sure there will be the usual willingness to correct me if I get anything wrong ----

I just quickly skimmed thru the tracks - voting is gonna kill me :( :( :( :(

Yeager and Kaiyoti, did you use any preset sounds and, if so, which ones?

So many songs are very nice.. so I can't vote. at other cases, I can choose 2 or 3 song, but, 13 songs are all very good. I listen only one. and I will listen again. but, I will not choose 5 song. I want to listen for fun not for vote.

Every song has nice sound and good. and 13 songs are amazing.

Have a nice weekend.
I like music

And takes almost two days to form justified opinions about each. :-o Could be over a week before I've come up with useful relevant comments for all of them, along with giving points. I just hope it won't turn out too ambitious a goal. :D

About the voting system, I was late for the final discussion but anyway...

I tried to think what would be the ideal, fairest possible voting scheme. On one hand, if every voter had to score every entry on a scale (0-10), it would give the most accurate average opinion. OTOH that would be equivalent to giving "negative" points to those you didn't like, which would be just cruel as Mac noted: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 88#3996088  And who'd want to be cruel? The will not to appear rude would distort results! :? Voting only the top ones neatly clears this problem.

The free allocation of points tattie (and I) suggested is kind of a compromise between a complete scoring and a fixed point distribution, but effects another little quirk:
Suppose the top ones so far are A - 10pts, B - 7pts, C - 6pts. Now Mr.X decides how to spend his 10 points. He likes B and C best, then D... but raelly doesn't care for A. He could vote B-4 C-3 D-2 E-1, so his favorite B gets the lead, but what if X feels the B, C, D... aren't that far apart and gives the points like 2-2-2-1-1-1-1? In effect, his liking of C, D... causes him to have much less impact on the A-B difference, which is a opinion distortion of sorts.

I'm not so sure what you're getting at here. Is it that sharing 10pts between several tracks doesn't allow for fine enough differentiations (so, in your example B, C and D all get the same score)? If that's the case, we have 26 points to allocate, so this should be less of a problem.

Whichever system is used there's always going to be a balance of pros/cons (you sort of hinted at one con there - that voters may be influenced by the current tally of votes e.g. Mr X sees that A is winning, he really doesn't care for A, so, though he prefers D, he votes for B to deprive A of the lead).

Personally I much prefer this system, not for any perception of fairness, but because the flexibility makes the task of voting easier - having to place in order my 10 favoured tracks would have been very difficult, the first 3 or 4 I would probably have a fair idea about, but after that a lot of the decisions would be arbitrary. I also really like the idea of being able to award, where appropriate, higher marks to particularly good tracks.

Yes for me. Kaiyoti Bank 01 and Kaiyoti Bank 02 that is yet released.

@Steplton

Thus Spoke Piazzolla is a fantastic track :) - as you've used someone else's composition, I'm wondering, apart from the obvious stuff (selection of patches, mixing), what other creative inputs did you make? How much of the arranging is unique to this track? Did you use a .mid file?
