well, it brought my BF in from teh other room "spooky & lyrical" I believe were his comments :)

yeah, i think the occasional background talking lends a little floydian/musique concrete vibe to it. a nice flow for the most part, i thought the bit at the end sorta disrupted the flow a little imo, but that's improvisation for ya, and i suppose ya gotta end it somehow. overall some really nice trancey (but in a good way :P) moments here. :)

Yeah, the end is only there because I was too lazy to edit it out. :hihi: Like you say, that's improv for ya.

Thanks for listening.

Love this, J. Very dreamy and atmospheric. Having audio hallucinations listening to it. It actually could have ended around 6:30and I would have listened to it over and over again. After that, it starts to feel like it's a different song and/or a little less controlled. Wonderful editing and sound mangling textures throughout. This is a keeper.

Some of the audio hallucinations I experienced;
I heard that something makes Brit sad, I heard a tapedeck stop button pressed (or some mechanism), I swear I heard an alarm clock.

Well, thats the thing, there isn't a single edit in here. Everything you hear was done live in a single take with a pair of loopers to sample phrases and then layer them. You were not hallucinating by the way :hihi: , there are places you can clearly hear me stepping on the stomp switches of one of the looper pedals (the other one just records continuously and has a pitch control so that I can do those zany pitch sweeps/sample rate crushes). I'm pretty sure that I can also hear Brit say something makes her "sad face". :lol: I'm not sure about the alarm clock, but you can hear a little snip from Family Guy at the end.

I was using my C414 and an SM57 to record the amp cab but I was monitoring through the amp's headphone out, so I couldn't hear what was going on in the other room. The 414 on the other hand picked up everything. :oops:

Thanks or listening. :)

It's a really cool DIY sampler/looper/fx unit that does a lot of my favorite FSU stuff in one awesomely nerdy, circuit bendable device. You can control it via midi or as a stand alone unit.

Please tell me this DIY is for sale somewhere out there.... :)
YOu are such a gear lust peddler, my friend.

That sampler is awesome. *investigates*

This tune has a great Sigur Ros like spacey melancholy to it. Wonderful resonances Justin. Greatly enjoyed this piece. The last couple of minutes are particularly interesting. Will be giving this a few more listens.
