if i had to choose one, i'd go with the fairchild emu. 'cause everybody needs a fairchild nowadays.

They're all really good. I got a few in the group buy last summer; the 2 I use most is the Fairchild compressor and the Pulteq EQ.

I just have the usual effects that come with my daws. reaper and live 8. I know its hard to make recommendations not knowing. but discussion helps. I play mostly rock, blues, and trying to play jazz.

The Fairchild is great on things like vocals and acoustic guitar. The Opto Compressor is a solid all rounder, and definitely has that "Opto" character on the attack and release (sort of like a super LA2A). And the Pultec is just a really cool sounding character EQ. Take your pick. You can't go wrong with either of those three.

Pultec makes things sound fat as hell, the Fairchild sounds great too. I like running groups of vocals through the Opto. If I had to choose one I would probably get the Opto (I do a lot of vox), and a close second would be the Pultec. THe weird thing for me with these plugs is: I never really use them for what they are supposedly for. if I need a "compressor" I use something else. I usually use these plugs for a colorful sound that they make (that I find pleasant).

Of course the Opto compressor. Sure, you can find uses for the other plugins, but the opto is suitable for so many things it's not even funny.

I have no idea what else you have, so it's hard to pick complimentary plugs for you...
I have the fairchild, pultec, opto, clipper, and the multiband limiter. i'd agree they are all solid plugs.
one thing i'd warn is that if you plan to be working on an x64 system with an x64 DAW, IK has said that they have NO timetable to releas x64 versions of the singles. (they do work ok with jbrige...)
so, for example, if i had to do it over, i might have bought the PSP sQuad pack instead of the pultec. it's x64 and you can get a better warmth out of it than the pultec. voxengo also is almost all x64 native, so you might want to check on some of their plugs instead.
and finally, check out http://varietyofsound.wordpress.com/ for great sounding free plugs.

Also why must it be a T-racks Single? Do you have some sort of coupon or you just think that's what you should get? There are lots of good plug-in vendors out there.
