After 1.3 Update - Octopus shows up as Demo

OK, I updated to the latest and greatest Octopus 1.3. After installation, it asked me for my serial number again, which I gave it no problem. However, now, it shows up as a DEMO in Reaper, both in the FX Browser and the FX Chain List of the container window Reaper provides.

It DOES NOT exhibit any other demo behavior (e.g. the random bursts of white noise). However, it does look a bit suspicious when you are working with a client and the software shows up as a demo. The first thing she said was 'you are not using cracked software are you'. I showed her proof that I purchased it, but unfortunately, Octopus doesn't have the S/N valid entry that other LinPlug instruments feature.

Here is a screenshot.

Sorry about only offering an external link. The limitations on posting graphics within the forum container would make me shrink it to the point that the text would be unreadable and thus useless for illustrating my point.

Also, here is a shot that illustrates what I meant by SN Valid being missing.

same with me, don't know if/when it will expire. Like in the other thread the 1st update left me with no presets and with a clean install of 1.3 it is showing as a demo

Post

I don't think it will expire. Within the VST SDK there is some kind of plug-in name field or something (it has been years since I looked at it, so the exact name escapes me). I think all Peter needs to do is populate this variable properly, recompile, distribute, and we are good.

Any word from linplug on this? Seems slow to respond.

I haven't received an official word, but I believe Peter is still tending to a personal situation.

I used Octopus very heavily in a session yesterday, and not once did it exhibit any of the demo behavior. I believe my typo theory is correct and should be easily remedied once Peter has his personal situation sorted and is back to work.

Peter has his personal situation sorted and is back to work.

Yes, I'm sure he will fix that problem if everything is running in a correct way again....
