To avoid this kind of controversy perhaps voting should be limited to forum members who joined before the start of the comp and with more than 5 posts (and comp entrants, obviously)?

(FWIW, I'm happy to include Hangglide's points - it puts orbik another 4 pts ahead of me, but I think that's entirely fair, as his track is way better )

Re. Hangglides votes, I really dont want to go down a censorship road, and if Hangglide says the votes are from the heart, who am I to suggest otherwise?

We all have slight differences in our voting criteria, and thats fine! .... and if some association with Steplton, and Stepltons track has brought hangglide to OSC, then surely thats a good thing??

I dont think Hangglide is the first to contribute to the comp with very few posts, and I'm really not in a position to judge how long folks have perhaps been reading KVR before deciding to post, and neither do I think that a certain number of posts on KVR make any individual a better judge of tracks ... whatever criteria they apply .... So, I feel I have to accept Hangglide's votes until I hear a good case for me not to ... if that case can be made, then no probs, I can subtract as well as I can add ( ... though thats hardly an endorsement! )

Anyway, I got finished all the digital parts of the film soundtrack I'm working on, so pressure's off for a while ... and I can be around a bit more than of late ... I'll do a tally up soon

Forgive me, but you've completely misunderstood/misrepresented what I was saying. I wasn't for one minute suggesting that being a long term member of kvr makes one a better judge of the OSC! My suggestion was squarely aimed at avoiding the situation where somebody uses sock puppets, or gets a load of their friends to join up solely for the purpose of voting for their track. If that's just not a concern (and on current evidence it probably isn't), then fair enough.

The top 3 remain where they were, though the distance between them increases further. Is there a late challenge worthy of toppling 'Last Synth'??

Almost all the action worth noting has happened from 4th to 8th, with a right shuffle going on! 'R2L4' and 'Thingamabob' drop to the bottom of that group to make way for gains by 'Karma Sutra' ( 7th to 6th ), highest climber 'Another Soundtrack' (8th to 5th ) and 'Piazzola' ( 6th to 4th ) .... and the battle between that group looks set to continue with only 10 points seperating them.

Its a long way back though til we find a tight group of 3 jostling for 9th place, and a long way further back we see another tight bunch of four battling for 12th.

So it's looking well settled at the top, but there's still virtually a whole week to go!! .... and anything can happen .... keep the votes coming!!

.... oh, and while on the subect of erroneous calculations, I was using 'Kyarp' in the film soundtracks ... and discovered that it wasn't in tune! ... three semitones flat! ... due to a global tuning adjustment error .... I wont go into the details purely to demonstrate what a stupid error it was, but I will be replacing the version in the participants prize folder with the fixed version as soon as I can.... until then, if you need to use it for anything, adjust with the osc tun controls.
