Install IL synths

I was messing around and cleaning up items in my VST/VSTi directory and sub-directories when I made what I'll call a pleasant discovery.

I noticed that when I install an IL synth from the desktop, the installer always drops a folder on my desktop.

I didn't want the folder on my desktop so I deleted it and the synth froze and would not load or work.

I then decided to move the installer and the key file into the sub-directory that the synth would end up in and install from there. I did this with Autogun (a really nice freeware synth from IL)and noticed that all the clicking I was getting on the attack, suddenly disappeared.

I did the same with Harmless and it's attack sounded cleaner, stronger and more defined as well. I will do this with all my IL synths.

Incidentally, the installer will still drop the synths folder on your desktop!

Thanks! As freakishly random and irrational as that is, I'm still going to reinstall all my IL plug-ins now just for the chance of it providing some benefit. And yes, Autogun is a great plug-in, I use it all the time despite owning to full version of Ogun.

The folder on the desktop assumes the name of the (VSTi) synth you are installing.

It was most noticeable on Autogun so try that first - much more subtle on the others. I wish I had them all. Every IL synth is killer IMHO!

Sytrus and Ogun are my personal favorites. They need to add features to Morphine for it to compete with Alchemy.

It seems that at some point you chose the desktop as the install folder for one of our plugin's data files. The other installers now use that as the default location.

When installing one of our plugins, you can select a custom location for the data folder. I suggest using that option.

Thanks - I'll give that a go. Initially, I was trying to get the folders off my desktop when it seems that I stumbled onto the other.
