Cool! The SOS reviewer hated my CD, Surfing the Solar Winds. But, it's a fun read..
At least he agreed it was innovative and created a new genre: "torture prog".
That's pretty catchy. Maybe I'll go with that one!

Ouch! That was savage in the extreme - I guess he breeds war-dogs in his spare time
It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently no longer an 'elderly', now a 'senior'! Is that promotion?

Wow. I particularly like the line 'He was probably busy in the synth vault at the time.'
I like the idea of 'torture prog'. The military should look into it

That's a terrific bad review. A lot of people are going to check out your music because of that.

Not my bag either but it sounds as good as any Dream Theater I've ever heard. I never understand a reviewer who obviously doesn't like a genre yet feels it's OK to review something in that genre. It's like panning a seafood restaurant when you hate fish.

"torture prog"
Congrats! Seriously, it's really a great bad review, it says "you gotta hear it" loud and clear.

I guess I'd make a really bad reviewer; I really like the songs. Oh well, I guess I don't have any taste.
Serioiusly, though, don't let reviews like that stop you. I'd be willing to be the reviewer hasn't made any albums.

Great thread and great review: the best i've read in years. Your music will get a lot of attention from the casioal graveyard fraction at least.

I didn't think the review was THAT bad. Most of what he said could be taken in a positive light. If nothing else, he did NOT say that your music was boring or derivative: quite the contrary, from that description your music sounds innovative and unlike anything we've ever heard before. The review certainly makes me want to check out your CD

Qw, music from twelve weeks in quarantine is now streaming on spotify and bandcamp. This is a collaboration with the the smallest of worlds VR art project, that documents our living spaces in times of isolation. You can join their project here.

do you have to release your own albums to be a professional music reviewer?DocAtlas wrote:I guess I'd make a really bad reviewer; I really like the songs. Oh well, I guess I don't have any taste.![]()
