I don't care what they say about me, just make sure they spell my name right!

I really liked your songs in general (what I heard on your soundclick page) - although I do agree that overall it has a somewhat harsh frenetic feel which can put the listener on edge after awhile, and some of the sounds were a bit casio/nintendo-esque like he infers. But, to repeat it again, I liked it - but I like both genres and the blend thereof.

casio graveyard torture prog? awesome.
the only thing I agree with in the review is the high frequency part.

Jeff, while your music isn't my favourite genre, I can assure you that you're doing well. Very well, actually. The Sound On Sound Review Zombie was unfair in the extreme. When listening to your songs, I tried to imagine a full band playing your stuff with real instruments. And it would work, it would be very powerful. You got a great compositional sense; there's hardly a sequence that could be called boring. The only thing bothering me is that slightly "artificial" feel you get with virtual instruments and digital recording. That's kind of a letdown, because as I stated before, if your stuff was played by musicians with real instruments, it would move a lot of air.
Finally, your music reminds me a bit of Jethro Tull, and this in the very best sense.
Go ahead. You're doing fine indeed.

If you listen hard enough, you can still hear the silence.

I enjoyed your music, Jeff. That's a poorly written review.

i had a listen not my cup of tea, but I appreciate the musicianship the one comment that is a bit bitchy is this "dangerously large quantities of time and money" sounds like he is trying to be Simon Cowel or something. I am curious by what you mean in your description for the song surfing the solar winds "A ballad which journeys through angst and existence in the midst of society's hall of mirrors," , sounds like an interesting concept societys hall of mirrors can you elaborate? I'm genuinly curious what your perception is.

Thanks everyone! Yep, it is a fun read, I definitely appreciate your support.mellotronaut wrote:i don't think, this review hurts: it's a wonderful advertisement with lots of catchy words!
As noted, you can check out the full versions of everything on my soundclick.com page in my sig.
Considering it's "torture prog", try not to hurt yourself (on the other hand, "no pain, no gain".)

Hey, Maximilians1, where did you read that quote ["A ballad which journeys through angst and existence in the midst of society's hall of mirrors,"] ? I don't think it came from me.maximilians1 wrote:i had a listen not my cup of tea, but I appreciate the musicianship the one comment that is a bit bitchy is this "dangerously large quantities of time and money" sounds like he is trying to be Simon Cowel or something. hehe I love SOS reviews. Indeed a badge of honour. Your first (I'm guessing) bad review.
This is inspiring. I think I'm going leave some irreverent reviews in the cafe tommorow
if only I had Sam's wit.

two things:
1. I listened to it as a result of the review, and I could wait.
2. I've gotten good reviews that were worse than this review. I had a review of a 7" barely talk about the music at all and just blather on about trivia.

i wonder why anyone is sending their cds for review to sos in the first place.
seems to me that the majority of the reviews are really mean, polemic and negative.
