I actually rather enjoyed your music Jeff; what I listened to was tuneful and proficiently played, and the production, albeit being a little on the 'Casio' side in places, was highly listenable, far from being 'torture prog'. Rather, I would award that moniker to one of the beneficiaries of high praise in that months column, albeit from another reviewer. I guess you got Nasty Nigel this time
Music with dinner is an insult both to the cook and the violinist.

Actually, the reviewer is Nell McLeod. He gets some good marks for creativity. "Synth vault"; "torture prog". My, that's actually pretty good stuff!!! (I happen to love instrumental prog and consider it an under-appreciated field.) The best aspects: it's fun, it sounds really good and colorful, and your composition is quite inspired. I think I'm a-gonna go buy it now.
(And this is perfect "driving" music!!!)
You can thank the "bad review" and your post here on KVR for this sale.

Griels: I'll take praise anyway I can get it, faint or not!
Thanks, Dhalfen!
I am not sure whether CDbaby.com is a better way to get them than soundclick.com .(I think the art work on the cd is pretty cool if you decide to go the physical cd route).
Here is the cdbaby.com link: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/naness2

i like what i heard...will listen to more later
i think maybe a better pallette of vst's/au's would do more justice to your composition and playing....
you would have made a mint scoring 'boss' sequences for snes games
i also agree that reviewers shouldn't be reviewing genres that they don't like

he probably hates hippies , dont take it personal , at least you didnt go offjeffn1 wrote:Cool! The SOS reviewer hated my CD, Surfing the Solar Winds. But, it's a fun read..
At least he agreed it was innovative and created a new genre: "torture prog".
That's pretty catchy. Maybe I'll go with that one!

you know those poster adverts for stage shows which steal extracts of negative reviews to make them sound like the reviewer loved the show? Like when the papers say "Not very funny at all", the billboards say "...very funny.." You get the idea. Well, you could do the same. Here are some suggestions with text taken entirely from the SOS review, but rather out of context of course! Maybe someone else can think of some better ones but here's a few starters:
"a...mighty...shredding-guitar-based...labour of love"
"he has created an entirely new genre that I like"
"Surfing The Solar Winds...live(s) up to its title"
"I like...tracks such as 'Frenetic Passage' and 'Time-Space Continuum'"
Don't forget to credit all quotes to Nell McLeod!
