Hi.

Try re-starting your machine, if it doesn't solve it, drop me a line and I'll send you a test build.

Ok thanks.
I uninstalled Jbridge put perhaps I should give it another try as I propably misunderstood as step. Let me know if this is the correct order to do things:

1. Move original .dll files away from VST folder so they cannot be scanned by Cubase

2. Run Jbridge and use this new location (see point 1) to convert into 64.dll's

3. Create a new folder within the Cubase VST folder where the newly created files should go

4. Run input scan in Cubase again to identify the new VST inputs

5. Run cubase

I also had an issue when starting Jbridge before (asking for administrative rights even though I ticked this box in Auxhost64 and Auxhost. The program said no changes to registry could be made (I have administrator rights).

Regarding moving the original .dll files to new location, should I move everything, including subfolders with cubase effects or only the vst instruments?

It can be done that way, but please make sure that your plugins can be moved ( most can, but just in case... ).

I would also recommend that when you move the plugins, start Cubase first and update its plugin cache to remove any reference to plugins that aren't there anymore.

Then exit it, create the bridging files, re-start Cubase and update its cache again.

Ok thanks, in the meantime I tried the above (without the part you said "remove any reference").
At first it did not work but after renaming the file (i.e. taking away .64. at least made the instrument to work.
Now however this is another funny problem, the instrument window is blank (i.e. I cannot see it or change parametres). It sounds ok and my ASIO load is much lower (thanks to JBridge) but this is a bit weird. Any suggestions? Do you think I should reinstall again and take into account your point above?

Post

Hey It's working now after having disabled the UAC. Brilliant! And the ASIO load is now way down compared to before, even when I load huge things like BFD2.
You're a champion J.

Now I only have two last questions:

1. Should I run 64 bit apps like Kontakt 4 through JBridge anyway? (these would not need to be bridged I would assume)

2. Should I run all VST effects through JBridge, i.e. including the Cubase ones?

Thanks again for a great program!

Post

Great you got it going, disabling UAC was what I was going to suggest anyway.

Regarding the option of running all the plugins bridged, it's a matter of preference, if your system responds better that way, use it that way. ;)

Thanks for your reply.
Yes for example my Kontakt 4 is not working as is (I need to reduce the number of outputs from 64 to 32 to work with JBridge). I think I will just put the original Kontakt.dll file back as this worked fine before.

Perhaps this could be an option on your next upgrade, i.e. to be able to deselect manually the vst's you want to keep "as is" and only run the 32 bits.
Also, if someone wants to add just one additional VST, so that it only bridges this instrument (perhaps this can already be done?).

Thanks again, this was money well spent for a change !

Post

No problem. :)

I hope to address the input/output limitation in a future update, I have been investigating some alternatives, so far they all affect stability for worse, but I still have some ideas to try.

An option to select which plugins to bridge ( 32, 64 or all ) sounds good to me. ;) Making it a check-box type list would be more complex, though.

You can already select individual plugins in the jBridger tool, just select a dll instead of a directory.

Cheers.

I tested this out on Windows 7 64 bit, Ableton Live 7.0.18 - found a couple of problems

Z3ta+ - when i try to close the plugin window Live hangs and i have to kill everything
impOSCar - when i move a knob the cursor changes to a crosshair and the movements are very jerky and unstable

would love to use this but unfortunately only 7 of my UAD plugins show up so its a non-runner for me

Post

Hi.

For Z3ta+, try enabling the "prevent main control when the GUI window is closed" option.

For impOSCar, try the "Sluggish GUI hack" option.

And for UAD2 plugins, try installing the latest v5.6 driver, according to the reports it seems to allow more simultaneously bridged plugins.

Will try the z3ta+ and impOSCar tweaks - having some trouble with the uad at the moment but will report back when i can.
Thanks

Hi
The z3ta+ option worked but the impOSCar didnt really- the crosshair is gone but still problems controlling knobs, ive switched back to my normal vst dir to check how it handles normally and its fine

Ive managed to get my uad cards running again with 5.6 s/w and can load plugins with no limitations, great!
However i noticed the same sketchy knob control behaviour on these

Thanks

Hi.

Any difference with the separate GUI mode for the remaining problems?

I am experiencing some unstability with my Cubase installation so I am going to do a reinstall.

What is the right order to reinstall with regards to JBridge? Should I first uninstall JBridge or Cubase? How about for the reinstallation? (which order)

Post

Hi.

You don't need to reinstall anything from jBridge's side as it doesn't change anything in your system. You can even install older and newer versions over at will.

Just make sure that you don't move any of the plugins you bridged before, otherwise you'll need to recreate the bridging files.

But, if you're experiencing overall system instability, that may be due to something else, I would recommend testing your machine with something like this:

Just to rule out any chance of a hardware problem.
