Squids wrote: On another note, it looks like EpiK DrumS - A Ken Scott Collection AND Drum Masters 2 Multitrack will be released before the end of this month (maybe even toward the end of next week!). The free updates for DM1 users (kit to kit patch updates with new features) are finally going to be available soon as well. Time to celebrate
I'm sure you're aware. this month's issue of Mix Magazine had a great feature on Kem and EpiK DrumS, plus he was featured in 4 Classic Tracks which I don't recall ever anyone since I've been reading Mix since the early 80's getting more than one song covered. That really says something about Ken..

Where are those 7 people we need for 300?

Maybe the next person that sees this thread and signs up can throw some epointz to hydemusic (yes, that's his esoundz name...I checked in the referral thread).

Thanks.... I know most people do work otherwise they couldn't afford to buy Squids a Mercedes Benz  Name the artist who sang that song for epointz

OK standalone you should have your epointz. Squids usually offers 4 but I gave you 5 :D

I have been playing the drums from the first GB on my new Alesis USB Pro kit, these are great E-drums, I could not justify buying rolands, every piece of the kit has 2 way triggers, the ride is real cool how you can go from rim to bell!

Ok, cool. Well, here are my dumb questions. First, my setup is Logic Pro 8 with a Motu 8-Pre analogue/digital converter that also handles the midi data, all going in via a firewire port.

This is the thing you have right?

http://www.alesis.com/usbprodrumkit

Is the only output from it a USB output, or does it also take midi-cables? Is going from the alesis via midi cables into the Motu, and from the Motu via the firewire connection into the Mac going to be a faster route for response time, i.e., less lag while playing, or will the USB port be better and work just fine?

How much Ram do I need to have on my computer to make the Alesis triggering work smoothly?

The dual zone snares, etc., I think I understand how that works: basically one part of the surface of the snares triggers what would be, e.g., a D2 on the keyboard (one kind of snare articulation) and the other triggers an E2 (a different snare sample). Is this correct? And all of the kit pieces have this feature? When you play your Alesis, do you use the vdrum mapping in the group buy, or the general midi setting, or does it not make a difference?

Did you have to upload any new software to get the drumset to sync with/communicate with your computer, or is basically plug and play? By purchasing in to groupbuy2 I'm starting to get low on hard-drive space, and all ready have a lot of programs running along with Logic so don't necessarily want to gunk up the computer more if I don't have to. Is the bundled software any good, and do you use it?

Did you purchase it from a particular place that you would recommend, or basically the cheapest on the web is where I should go?

Ok, lots of questions, but Reverend Rythym said it was ok. And so I am obeying. He is a Reverend after all.

Thanks again!!!!

Oh, and how loud is the thing with the sound turned off? Especially the surge cymbals -- am I going to anger my neighbors?
Why'd you slice off my hand?

I am! ...for what it's worth....

Here is the way I look at it: I have fun with these GBs. I have fun watching the numbers climb, and seeing people get excited about the products. So when no one is talking on the thread, I (along with other "spammers") feel the need to bump the thread. Boring! So discussion is great!

You guys are on topic. During the first GB the electronic drummers came into the fold in a big way. So we've made room for you guys. Welcome! We'll learn something! Like... I remember the Alesis pads from 15 years ago, but the new ones seem to be greatly improved.

So go on and talk. At least I won't have to say "bump!"

i think there are two versions of the alesis. one with black rubber cymbals and slightly more expensive version with the actual brass trigger cymbals. the brass ones are gonna be a little louder. as far as the rest of the pads it will sound like someone playing on a practice pad or less if on mesh heads. however the kick drum can actually be a problem if you have neighbors below you, because you are still whacking a pad sitting on the floor with a pedal and the vibration transfers into the floor
