Can you tell us more about the octabon, timbale and roto kits? These additional toms as well as the Weckel and Chambers snares are the biggest selling points (for me). I'm curious about the size, type and number of samples for these. Or, anything you can tell us about the sessions, types of kits, pics, etc.

Thanks :)

The Weckl snare is really interesting. It had TWO snares! It's a Yamaha snare. The Chambers is a Pearl. Both were recorded in a pretty dry room so they're rather flexible.

The Rotos and Timbales are from the same Premier NDV session. They have the same sort of size as the toms in the NDV Premier kit. That's in a more ambient room that sounds really great.

The Octobans are not massive in samples. It is not what I would call the definitive sampling of them but I happened to have them and threw them in... the REAL crazy sampling of them will be on the upcoming Copeland style kit with Hugh Padgham (the engineer who co-produced Ghost in the Machine and Synchronicity who I am doing a collection with.... we already sampled a Collins-style kit at Genesis' studio for his collection which is coming out later this year). So... the Octobans in this are a bonus on top and they're fun. They may just do the trick! But I wouldn't get this JUST for that. Icing on the cake though.

We're not nearly posting enough on other forums. There's only 10 days left and some nice freebies to get... up to you.

Anyway, I posted this: http://www.native-instruments.com/forum ... p?t=106963

Also don't forget we have a Group Buy thread officially on Gearslutz but it needs some... something. http://www.gearslutz.com/board/group-bu ... ost5225504

On V-Drums.com there's this: http://www.vdrums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57511

Any other threads out there we should know about?

Not sure if you are represented at the Cakewalk Sonar forums, but I know some of those guys have bought into group buys before:

Hope this helps!

For anyone who didn't buy into the first Group Buy, or is undecided about this group buy, it is definitely worth it.

The Ocean Way Drums are awesome.

After listening to Firebird (London based Blues Power Trio, not the Rockabilly band form US), I decided I wanted to record something with their sort of sound.

OWD kit 2 (Medium) had just the right amount of room to get a nice boomy drum sound, did a fairly quick midi file (piano scroll editing) added a bluesy (but distorted) bass and some guitar and it sounds great (except my bass playing is not so tight..I'll go back, practice and try to fix it). This was all in an hour and a half (sketchpad recording, not polished).

Anyway, my point is, I could quickly find a kit that had the sound I wanted, without changing a thing. Along with the capability to mix and match pieces (as Squids often remind us), this is an awesome drum solution for anyone who wants some flexibility and wants to get away from the sterile sounds of a drum machine.

The extra Drum Masters MT kits with the adjustable mic settings (which I have only played with momentarily, but was impressed) are like icing on an already delicious cake.

To anyone who is undecided, jump in, you won't be disappointed.

oh yeah, we're up to 356...

359! You're getting there. 400 is within reach. Can someone consolidate all of the posts outside of KVR so we can see what threads there are? Then if people keep those threads alive it will attract more people. Whoever puts together the consolidated list can have 25 epointz to use on any downloadable sounds you may like. (Nothing like a little epointz bribery to get things cookin' ;) ).

This coming week we're going to announce the shawag winners from the first 3 hundy. That'll be fun. We're also going to do a drawing for 10 people from the Group Buy who participate in this and other threads. We're going to count out up how many times you've posted here and in other threads and each time you will increase your chances to win an Infinite Player T-Shirt (really nice black shirt with the Gold Infinite Player logo and a "Sonic Revolution") as well as a Sonic Reality - Ocean Way Drums carrying bag which can hold hard drives or a laptop or misc things for your gig. I use it myself! So this is not just for the first 300 but for ALL participants in both the current GB and in this thread as well as in other threads outside of KVR. GOOD LUCK!

Does it not? Does it not?

By the way, is it just me or did Jeff Bridges' speech at the Oscars sound like it was The Dude accepting the award? "Uh hey man, I'd like to my special lady"

I'm experimenting with ways to do videos and I think I have an easy way... we still have the more deluxe thing with Final Cut in the works but man I just want to play the kits so you can see them and hear them. Right? Right. So, as a bonus I will be showing you what the Neil Peart kit plays and sounds like in the state it is in now. Pretty pretty cool! Then I'll play the Drum Masters 2 kits and EpiK DrumS kits as well. I mean, assuming that Youtube can handle my HD export here so finger's crossed. It might take awhile to upload but I got "the pass" this Sunday to just do this instead of be a part of everyday life so let me see what I can do.

I still have videos of people like John Blackwell trying out the DM2 kits from a V-Drum and other stuff but that will require more actual editing and sync but this experiment I am doing now is to simply use the Mac's isight in combo with a screencapture live with no editing... at least you get to hear what it really sounds like without any fixes or touch ups. More like what'd you see if I did a live demonstration. Anyway, that's coming if you want some entertainment later on... if that entertains you. I did go wild on the iMap for this one. Quite fun to do!

Okay! It worked. Check it out:
