I've got into programming Rhino a bit lately.. Its fun! I have my head around most of what it can do, but I'm still having trouble with simple things. Such as some simple lfo filter modulation. If I assign an osc to be an lfo, how can I go about setting it to modulate filter cutoff? I realize its possible to use the filter envelope to do this but it sure seems a hassle by hand. Does anyone have some premade triangle and sine waveforms for importing into the env window? That would help alot...

Seperate lfos that can modulate anything (a la z3ta) sure would help the usability and performance of rhino alot, methinks.

hmm, well i figured out how to just draw one triangle and loop it in the env display. thats good for now I guess

I second that.

There are some predefined envelopes with lfo shapes. They should be available when you select "load" from the envelope right-click menu.
Anyway, using the envelope is the way to do it. It's really more flexible than using an osc.

And I thought you found it too cpu heavy already :-)

Hey, well as long as its optional I don't think it would hurt :)

I'm getting the hang of envs a bit more, hopefully the lack of lfos won't get in the way to much anyway. Its nice to be able to go in and copy cool envs from the various patch banks. Still, it would be very cool to have a addon-pack of various types of envs to make things a bit easier, though those included are a nice touch.

in my bank, most of the patches use a sin LFO on the osc phase mod. look for a patch with vibrato slider, then go to the OSC page. click on the text on the upper left corner and select 'osc phase' -- there are two version, 20 MS and 30 MS; these can be stretched to produce other speeds.

presumably, LFOs OSC's can be implimented with a *much* more 'CPU friendly' algo that those we listen to (like perhaps the same one we are trying to draw in the env window)?
