wow wished I owned kontakt :(
Nobody's a nobody...

Yes me too. It's a bit pricey if you don't want to get into in depth stuff and the Player is next to useless. Why don't they have a mid-price version that will play all libraries but have minimal editing functions?

I have it here now and it's wonderful ... in its cruddy, vintage way. Totally wonderful ;)
jkleban wrote:Our friend at hollowsun also offers a free RMI and this one is the electrapiano.... don't know if it is any good but I know the guy who owns this company is a real historian (sorry I don't remember your name) and I suspect that this might be closer to that GENESIS sound if you are interested.

You will see the RMI listed as FREE on this page. This is the company that did the great job sampling the novachord (a unbelievable HAMMOND synthesizer from the 1930s).
Hi - Hollow Sun is me, Steve, with a lot of support from many others who help me out (they know who they are and are modest enough not to demand a namecheck - good people). Thanks for your kind comments about the Hammond Novachord.

That page you quote is well out of date and I suspect the links won't work..

So in the spirit of all things RMI, here's my totally free RMI Electrapiano...

But it's not a patch (no pun intended!) on what my friends at Sonic Couture have on offer which is a FAR more comprehensive offering with the clever scripting and stuff but if my modest offering adds to the RMI love, it can't be bad .... and please understand that I am not trying to steal their thunder.
jkleban wrote:I guess I might release my homegrown RMI samples soon for everybody... (I do have an RMI ELECTRA PIANO 368) as well.
Oooh. I'd be happy to host those for you if they are any good. PM me or catch me at steve (@) hollowsun.com

Absolutely! Good fellas and best regards to them!

And thanks to them for this freebie. I am loving it!

Cheers,

I'll have a try then, I guess, although their page says it isn't compatible with free player.

Thanks for this. Some cool and different keyboard
colors and as always the quality is top notch.

I also tried it with the Kontakt 3 player, and after rebuilding the database, it fired right up.

Wow, great sounding instrument. Thank you ever so much SonicCoulture! :D

Lovely thing this.

Kontakt is worth getting just for this sort of freebies.

Yes, there are many nice ones out there. I try to keep a list of some free stuff here: http://rekkerd.org/freebies-for-native- ... s-kontakt/
Rekkerd.org the latest news on audio plugins, sample libraries & virtual instruments, synth presets & more.
Don't click here if you can't control yourself!

It's very confusing (and NI don't make it clear)...

The free Kontakt player will allow you to play ANY Kontakt library (and Akai S5/6000 and other formats too) but with a 30 minute time limit. Basically, you have the full version there for half an hour to mess with. After it has timed out, you can restart it immediately and carry on where you left off, however.

If the library has been 'authorised' by NI (i.e. the developer has paid them a small fortune for the authorisation), you can PLAY the library without the time limit restriction but if you attempt to edit or tweak it in 'full Kontakt demo mode', the time limit kicks in.

I wish NI would make it clearer because I spend a lot of my time answering peoples' email asking if they can use my stuff with the Kontakt player (and a lot of time dealing with people who have bought my stuff and then discover that the player times out after 30 minutes)! :(

I hope this helps.

Cheers,

Steve

Oh, really? I didn't know that you can just reload after the 30 minutes. That's awesome for those that don't own Kontakt, I mean it's not such a big deal to reopen every 30 minutes, is it?

If you're just noodling around with a few sounds, whatever, probably not but if you've just set up some big, carefully mixed multi and lathered on the effects, etc., it could be annoying.

Not that anyone has a right to be annoyed at something that's free! :?

Cheers,
