Just bought some of these for massive and was literally astounded by the quality value for money and service. I usually like to design my own sounds but occasionally like to see what other people have done and use their patches as a starting point, and these were perfect for that. I always liked Lotusbleu's free sound sets at the old patcharena site competitions and was curious to see what he'd done with massive. Knowing his old free banks which were usually quite a different approach than the usual, I was surprised to see bread and butter type patches in there, I suppose that's a sign of what the market expects?

I'd pay up to $40-$50 for 200 high quality 3rd party patches and in the last few days as well as lotusbleu's I bought NI's threat bank for Massive, big spend for me as I don't often buy patches but well worth it for the quality.

(sorry ew hope I haven't bent/broken any rules ;)) just my 2c worth. Are you listening roblee? how many patches can you do for 2c? ;)

To throw in some philosophical thoughts... There are few musicians who can make a full living from their music... Companies like Yamaha sell over 90% of their gear to non professional musicians - they would starve if they would do things only for full pros... now we come to software - guess the big players drop making plugins - piracy is an issue to them, making this unprofitable. Yamaha has dumped it's softsynths, nothing new from Roland and Korg as well... finally synth patch banks... where do you think is this niche, summing up all factors... not to mention that there is no chance for any copy protection, is there? I just think it's a kind of gambling... if you really want to make a living from that.
Best regards, TiUser

128 sounds i like? Probably nothing. I already have enough stuff i like.

128 sounds i want? A few thousand euros i guess.
But i probably have never come across a bank where i really wanted more than 1 or 2 sounds.
I paid up to 50 euros for those which imo is a pretty decent price from a buyers perspective.

 Great thread OP.

And roblee, your services are right in my price range atm, expect some business
when I can get enough 2c's together :hihi: or maybe I could just go for broke
and take you up on your offer for the init patch':o'

As long as there are individuals
making music, there will be a market for individual sound designers with different qualities and different price ranges. And that's my 0.25c worth

that's very generous. For 2c I would do only a dry sine wave :hihi:

Hi Whoomph,

Well   :tu:

Glad you liked them and thanks for your kind words :) I dont remember having particpated to Patch Arena contest, so maybe there's another Lotuzia in activity   , or maybe someone put there some of our freeware -demo- soundsets (essentially for the Korg Lcae )

As for Ni bank I listened to the demo but iirc they used The Finger together with their instruments in the demo, wich I found a bit confusing cos in the end I wasn't able to distinguish if I heard Massive or The Finger

@roblee - you got any plans for any synths you haven't done banks for yet? I'd still give you 8p / patch btw :P

Post

Didn't someone come up with the plan to sell individual patches instead of banks? Can't remember who or even if..............

.15 cents per patch or something. They'd have a preview button etc etc. Seemed like a good idea for the consumer, only buy what you like but it would probably be a nightmare from an operations standpoint.

Not really that hard once one would make the basic database/shop system me thinks.

Not a bad idea
In process of making music that reeks of turd
