I think both rob_lee and lotusbleu's work are examples of good value well thought out soundbanks.( haven't tried rob's yet just judging by popular opinion) And in the future as both of you improve, the money you receive for your blood sweat and tears should increase accordingly. Not that your both not already good, as someone has already said, the punters ain't dumb, and they wouldn't keep buying your products if they not be good. (maybe not buying enough atm, but that's prolly the usual up's and down's of business?)

Another thing, I plugged in my old casio cz1000 for the first time in ages (5 years maybe) and blew myself away at the modern quality (imo) of the patches I came up with.
Totally different to the ones I'd made with the same synth in by-gone era's ( 25yrs of use) or so. This has happened to me countless times with this synth. I think I've done all I can with it, then I wipe the dust off it and with my new skills and whatever has become fashion at the time I manage (again imo) to make it sound up to date. And that's my $70 bucks worth :hihi:

oooh.. sore!

keep an eye out, they come up real cheap every now and then.(as you've noticed)

Mine is my second one, first one I bought for 700 Irish punts in 1985,(i was 15)Fcuck I worked/saved hard that summer! couldn't afford the 1500 or whatever for a dx-7.(got fm8 now haha)
But that one got stolen in 1991 when I lived in London, bloody thievin cockney scum ;)
Then in about 2001 I saw one for sale here in brissie for $70au/about 32 quid (hence my $70 bucks comment earlier).
As I'm sure you're aware it's a very under-rated synth by some and a classic for others.
As much/little as I know about you from your patches and synths I reckon you'd get a lot from one of these, growley little bsatard one minute, sweet and lush the next. And not forgetting the kitchy factory presets.

Oh and about random/cheat buttons, we've all started with an init patch and gotten some sort of results - this is how I mostly start too. but occasionally I like to press randomise and put myself in the shit and see how I can get out of it - Bear Grylls stylee :)

Btw kriminal, are you considering doing some more soundbanks? From this thread me-thinks so. Bring it on man, still have fun with some of your old ones here.
And if I've missed that you've been selling some recently please disregard last questions

BTW I actually miss London/Londoners,even more than Irishers sometimes here.
Lived in England for 6 years.

no plans, im finiding it really hard to stay close to making music at the moment, but patch design is about the closest i get, apart from testing...

i'd like to, but i seem to have lost my mojo :(

only 23,0000 presets...i won't consider instantiating a plugin with less than 30,0000....don't get any music done but standards are important

You'll be back! When/If it's time!
As the great philosopher Justin timberlake once said/sang
"What goes around comes around" Yeh
And as the now dead celebrity of sorts KrishnaMurti once said
Eh WTF was it again? something about experience of life being cyclic patterns that change only slightly each time,no matter what our minds try to tell us. Even if we completely change everything around us.(Or is that a lot of electronic music styles? ;) ) I'll Just remind you old squire' ultimately the choice is yours, mojo or no mojo.

Yeah 23,000 is sOooOO last year. My Gf certainly wouldnt be happy if I still used this kind of obsolete synths. Totally agree.

yeah, how happy would your gf be when you spent 23 hrs a day checking out these presets? Leaving one hour break of course to let your ears rest as all good sound designers know.

Vurt - I'd definitely need help from my crew to stay in one of those 5 star hotel jobbies, ever tried to use those bloody swipe card door opener thingys after a skinful and a few skins full?

on topic; I've just done a few patches on the local church organ, I'll pay anyone 10 bucks for each one they take from me. Not so sure it does sys ex tho.

That's when you should have gone all out and bought an actual hardware Arp2600,
As far as I remember the manual says - The possibilities for sound creation is limitless ;)

Soon to be released.
Randomizology.
1 million presets.
$1000usd.
Makes the perfect random purchase.
Spend decades listening to these sounds.
Think of it!
If you make a song with each preset you could have a million tunes of greatness.
So certainly you'd be able to at least have one hit song out of a million right?

IMO
Yes but what if the sound designer thought the same way as your opinion, then went through great lengths to avoid that very thing. To create an almost schizophrenic like bank from the last one. A completely new mix, but even better with the upgraded synth, and newly learned technique.
A repeat performance can be avoided, and even improved upon if one makes that an important goal.
imo
