Is there a "count in" option when I want to play/record a new media clip while playing an existing one?

I believe there is no count-in available now.

I have built them into each of my media files -- one measure of stomp-off at the beginning. It's easily silenced from an audio recording if you ever make one, just 4 closed-hat ticks at tempo, in an empty measure.

I do not record often but I like the "Auto" record function.

It would be cool to have a metronome click option for auto record.

I also would like a count in - i.e. delayed transport start - for 1..n bars.

Please Brad consider if you can add that in one of the coming builds! :D

Hi !

I thought about the more or less the same thing, giving the tempo to the drummer as a hint.

As a workaround, one could start a MIDI-File (Execute blabla.mid) or as
a Media file. There should be a stop command in the midi file after 2 bars (or whatever) in order to not play the file forever.

Using the execute method, it would also be possible to trigger some other commands (eg. Visual Basic Scripting/Windows Scripting Host sending some keys to the application).

So I guess, it would be fairly easy to overcome the lack of the functionality. Nevertheless, I think it would be useful extension, as Bradr has already acknowledged :-)

...well, workarounds are workarounds... :D

I also guess your suggestions gets difficult when the count in is needed anywhere else than the start of a media clip.

I highly appreciate if Brad adds a simple to use option with the metronome - as this would be much simpler to use... :D

I think even Einstein said make things as simple as possible but not simpler. ;)

Right. I was thinking of a typical band context, where the drummer should be up to speed at break in the middle of the song ;-) Our's has sometimes problems how fast, lets say, 84 bpm is, when he counts in.... That could be avoided by this approach. Actually, this would be a problem, even if Bradr would implement the desired funktionality.

So on the other hand... one could fire up the same (or even another) midi-file again when needed once more. Any key, button or foot-controller would do...

I think this is a reasonable work-around and not a kludge :-)

...think that's another story - i.e. assigning the metronome to a separate master bus channel to give the drummer a special reference signal.

The master bus is a bit hidden and not too great to operate but I guess Brad already thinks about improvements to make that better usable.

At least I stay tuned for improvements here...:D
