Neither did Microsoft releasing Windows 7 as a paid upgrade from Vista make any sense to the consumer whatsoever -- this is one of the greatest software rip-offs/fiascos of all time (not to mention making people pay for backtracking to XP!!!!! :x). So, unless Ableton wants to avoid any comparisons...

"Live 9" better have a heck of a lot more going for it than notation or some other odd bells & whistles.

As you implied, Aloysius, we definitely need to see Live 8.2, then Live 8.3, etc. looooooong before we see the next major (and presumably paid-for) upgrade.

(Totally off-topic: Chuck Norris' finger-hairs have ten fists each -- watch out now!!! :-o )

@bickering: do I need to pull this car over???

@hate: I'm not going there, already been there, it's a ghost town

@ableton: I ditched it years ago because starting with version 6 it's just been too buggy, didn't used to be. A score editor, I'm friends with the op so I'll just say I don't think it will happen, but if it did it would be fine by me

Most DAWs allow you to send audio to the same aux more than once and pipe it on mono or stereo aux busses. Linking of tracks/ buses are another necessity when track counts become large.

Ableton lacks surround track and aux/sub buss panning.

I could go on and on about the problems with its audio engine and returns.

Mind you, Ableton is the only product I use for pre production, but I would never think of using it for anything other than pre production and it is sold as a pre production piece of software.

Rabbit I meant it figuratively not literally.
I don't know if you spend much time in the albeton forum....but ya need to get over there and start screaming these things.
no purchase until everything goes to usb 3.0 and all hosts are 64 bit!

AMEN brother. But they put out ableton 9 cause it seems that most of the "serious" ableton folks do not seem to second guess anything they put out of say. All it would take is the serious ableton users saying we will not stand for this garbage and it would stop. Not sure if that is going to happen

You seem to have a little hate in your blood, is it that serious Kid. Did someone make fun of your music or did you get upset at a comment. You should really stop trying to hide behind little caveats and come out with your statement rather than being snippy with your comments.

Like I stated Sparky, you and I produce different things, If you do that experimental low fi stuff that's prevalent here than that is up to you bro. I would go to your profile but I could careless and I doubt you make anything of substance anyway, the way your crying.

I lost interest a few posts ago, but felt inclined to answer since you want to be a little cartoon.

We can agree to disagree K dog, you can even throw me a friends. Kmiester was all that really needed, you really should be hustling to make money not finding a back and forth fun. This is the reason why you stay on KVR on dull days, you need to step into another market. Having a profile with bad music on it doesn't get it sold. You have to network and hustle for that dream, get out of your grandmothers basement and start networking.

No, no, no.

Live is a performance tool mainly (hence "Live"), not notation software. There are too many things they can still do to improve on the performance side before doing anything like that. I'd be seriously pissed at Ableton if they did something so silly. But I know they won't. We don't even have clip automation recording in session view yet...

Notation is the last thing Live needs. It's just not that sort of program, despite having an optimized orchestral library available to purchase :D
Meh.

Hibidy, Slip of the tongue brotha, was putting a little hipness into my diatribe. I thought it would be cute, if you were offended I apologize.

By the way I am a Haitian American if that culls your interests

No prob, Kmiester I enjoyed the back and forth, I thought the grandma comment was pretty comedic, so I added it in for a good zinger.

Peace and well wishes.

Not interested in a notation editor.

I would like personally just some basic functionality for performance:
Sync has always been a PITA and unreliable compared to other DAWs.
No SysEx, something that for me would make writing with hardware much easier.
No MIDI event list. <-- I would be happy with just that AFA better MIDI editing etc.
Screensets and dual monitor support.

Things I don't car about, or get why people are up in arms about are:
Notation,
Audio Editor (they're cheap/free, and integrate with Live well)
more embedded instruments/ FX (they are better as VSTs, face it most built in VIs suck)
Aux's (Any audio track can be an Aux in Live, it's not an issue really)

I'm on 7, beta tested 8, and didn't think it was ready, I'll buy 8 when it is. 8)
