that's a wicked clip/edit.....are you playing kit or keys ???Squids wrote:Haha, I was just thinking "Hmm, how did he do that? Must have been with automation on an effect". But it was good use of that. The effect was trippy. Kind of like the end of "Have A Cigar" but with the gradual morph in the fade it really (tied the room together? no no no - too easy sorry) it really had a cool effect. I was listening on my laptop and for a second I thought something got unplugged. Haha. Then it just got smaller and smaller. Good idea!ebow wrote:automated fade and filter into logic's channel eq preset 'phone filter notch wide' (or something like thatSquids wrote:Brilliant bandpass fade! I like that one. Sort of Floydy.)
So I take it you like Sigur Ros? I hear a bit of that influence in there a bit - although they tend to EXPLODE more after the bells and vocals... which I also like. The current band I am in right now is with Simon Collins and it is what you might call progressive pop - with a bit of ambient in there a la Sigur Ros. Here's a clip of it (actually an edit bit from 3 different songs we did at my studio)

Those are live drums but I did sample them after. It is like a cross between a Phil Collins (pops) kit, a Bonham kit and a sort of Coldplay kit and something else all in one. So that will be released later.
haha....have you ever seen a drum you didn't sample ???
as for the fade...i had to get creative with long fades...this piece was recorded for the february RPM challenge and at the last minute i ditched a couple of pieces.....long fades, creative transitions and the effect you have heard were all ways of hitting the 35 minute target at the last minute...however , they really turned out to be integral to the piece...worked out well...still needs tidying up , some parts re-recording and a complete new take on the mix
and sigur ross ??? heard of them, never heard them....i'll go take a look

I'm on keys, Simon on drums. All played live in the studio which I love just as much as sequencing samples. The fun part about spending a day getting a great drum sound is sampling it after and having it forever. There are a lot of elements that make up a drum sound and when you get a good mix of things it is a shame to lose it. That's how I started sampling in the first place. To preserve sounds I liked.ebow wrote:that's a wicked clip/edit.....are you playing kit or keys ???Squids wrote:Haha, I was just thinking "Hmm, how did he do that? I am actually going up to Canada (Vancouver area) later this month to continue working on the album. Keys, co-writing and co-producing with a little bit of engineering so it is a good use of creativity for me. All collaboration so everything doesn't come out exactly how I would do it but that's why we're calling it a "band". It is really Simon's project with us co-creating it with him. Ironically I am more influenced by his father's work with Genesis than he is (early Genesis) but we're both into a lot of other things as well so you get a bit of this and that - unlikely combinations of prog and electronic and ambient and pop... but that's what's fun about it. Mixing it up.

Make sure you are looking at the exact size in properties to compare. Anyway, if you load the Retro Soul kit and it doesn't say it is looking for any missing samples then you've got it and there's nothing to worry about.jarrydee wrote:HEY SQUIDS....I have downloaded the Soul kit 3 times and every time the size is lower than whats on the web page...could the web page (esoundz DL page) be wrong?

yay, bands....i miss those days
sounds like a lot of fun....keep us posted on the album...maybe we'll get it as part of GB3 unless there are still people who haven't got the IP, in which case they will have to chose that instead

I may be mistaken, but the sizes on the Downloads page are for the .zip files, so you would need to compare them with the .zip files that you downloaded previously. [If you kept them after you had installed them.] When you look at the .zip file size (in XP, anyway), right-click it, select Properties and look at the size, in bytes, on that window.Squids wrote:Make sure you are looking at the exact size in properties to compare. Same here: i moved all the folders created by the new GB inside the "Ultimate Studio Drums" folder from GB1 and the error went away, so now it's look like:jarrydee wrote:Ya, I did it that way..Ill DL it again, not a problem..I da have a questrion for you guys though..when you y to load these new kits it is looking for missing files on all of them, I have to hit scan database and it works but IUt makes me do it every time, I did re-scan for new samples in the IP folder in kontakt but it still comes up with all missing samples!!

Hello,
I have installed:
Bill Bruford STm Kit Samples
NDV Premr Roto STm Kit Samples
NDV Premr Timbale STm Kit Samples
but I can't find them in the library. I updated Library into Kontakt's options and even I made a rescan but I don't know how to load these kits.
Where are them?
Thank you in advanced.

Dumb question: have you installed the "USD2 Patches: Phase 1"?BrufordRules wrote:Hello,

Edit: if you are searching for the NDV Premr Roto and NDV Premr Timbale multis, they are inside the "NDV Premr STm Kits" folder.
