The quality and work of the post alone is worth posting but once one see so much variety and apps, most of them very interesting and potentially good for workflow, music on the go or whatever... You cant just ignore what is being done for it.
I am not interested in a iPad, but I am really tempted and my main temptations are probably:
AC-7 Pro, MidiPad, Symphony Pro, Sonorasaurus Rex (and if I am not wrong technoBox is getting a version to), all of that for what 600$ or less. It make one wonder. Anyway no money for now (maybe later with Tegra2 + android, a lot cheaper and bit more CPU too).
Just thought you may like.

An intersting step forward..
I like the look of AC-7 Pro, but I prefer a tactile surface... I see how it could be useful for medium to larger size studios
The MRMR looks like it would be a cool DJ controller.
Right now I dont see myself using any of these but it was def a cool article, thanks!

Yawn. Wait for the clones with twice the power, at half the price, and the ability to run an uncrippled OS

Yes... But does it "just work"?xsys wrote:Yawn. Wait for the clones with twice the power, at half the price, and the ability to run an uncrippled OS.
Or did someone say that already?
If it is any thing but a mac then probably not!

Well, if it did "just work" then why the update to 10.6.3? - even that didnt "just work" :sophtrazor wrote:Yes... But does it "just work"?xsys wrote:Yawn. Wait for the clones with twice the power, at half the price, and the ability to run an uncrippled OS.

"The Mac OS X 10.6.3 update is out in its Software Update, Delta and Combo forms and a number of users (including the mighty Hawk of Applegeeks) have cited problems installing the update. In many cases, the user apparently has to sit forever with the spinning color wheel, or go blank to a blue, black, or gray screen and require a forced restart."

I'll take a hyper polished, well-thought-through user experience and a super innovative touch-screen paradigm over a bit of extra power any day.. Thank you very much.stk wrote:Yawn. Wait for the clones with twice the power, at half the price, and the ability to run an uncrippled OS
Not to mention the fact that no serious developer is ever going to touch your 'clone' platform, because there's nothing in it for them.
Have fun with your super powerful calendar app multitasking with your calculator app at 3GHz while we're having oodles of fun on our single-tasking, flash-less and severely crippled iPads.

yeh, but you have had windows tablets for years now.stk wrote:Yawn. Wait for the clones with twice the power, at half the price, and the ability to run an uncrippled OS
ipad is a different thing. not a laptop with a touchscreen. Thats my take anyway.
Anyway, someone mentions admiration of an apple product, someone makes a post like yours, some mac zealot drops in with the oversimplified meme of "just works" (which a lot have people have found to be comparatively true, and its turns into platform pissfest. KVR is so dull like this.

Well Nvidia have a lot of talks about Tegra2 (dual core ARM CPU-A9) + Android and around 200-300$.xsys wrote:Yawn. Wait for the clones with twice the power, at half the price, and the ability to run an uncrippled OS.

Anyway I am just happy that Apple will let the door open for all those, cant wait for the future.

Is the iPad's UI extremely polished? Check. All the demo videos (and experience with its older iPhone brother) should provide enough evidence for that. Apple are known to be perfectionists when it comes to orchestrating their user interfaces.
Is the iPad's user experience well-thought through? Check. It was built from the ground up around the multi-touch screen concept - as opposed to Windows 7 which just has some touch features stuck on top of a Mouse/Keyboard OS.
Does it have an innovative touch-screen paradigm? Well.. I think the iPhone (and the dozens of copy-cats that followed) proved that we don't need to discuss that any further. So.. check.
As much as the techies would like the iPad to fail because it doesn't have [insert esoteric features here], normal human beings and creative developers are going to be all over this thing - leaving the competition in the dust.
