In the news section Waldorf offers a free Blofeld soundbank as an "easter present":

http://www.waldorfmusic.de/en/news#185

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The new Blofeld OS 1.15 beta is up too:
http://www.waldorfmusic.de/en/downloads ... eld/system

Stefan Stenzel from Waldorf Music wrote on the Waldorf forum:
"Dear Blofeld Users,

I just uploaded Version 1.15 for Blofeld and V12 for the
Keyboard Chip of Blofeld Keyboard.

Blofeld Version 1.15:
- MIDI Clock reception
- System Exclusive handling
- workaround for USB on MAC
- Sample/WT select modulation
- User Wavetables
- minor bugfixes
- stolen units recognized => Comment: April fool's joke, removed with the latest update from 2nd April!!

Keyboard Chip Version 12:
- no more hanging of black keys"

---------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE: During the update the display says. "Your unit is identified as stolen so please contact Waldorf". Since this is a download from the Waldorf page it seems to be a very bad joke...
Anyway after reboot it shows OS 1.15 so only that part about the stolen synth is a joke ?? Not really funny.

UPDATE:
Besides that strange message the OS seems to be real since it contains around 50 new places for reserved + user wavetables.

UPDATE:
The email address for contacting Waldorf about "stolen units" started with "LIRPA1" which means: "1APRIL". :D

Here is the reply if you wrote to that email address:
"April April!
:-) :-D
We wish you fun with Blofeld and a happy Easter Holiday!

Your Waldorf Team"

---------------------------------------------------------------------
:!: Anyway: the OS itself is REAL!!

UPDATE:
An updated version of OS 1.15b seems to be available without any strange messages:
http://www.waldorfmusic.de/de/downloads ... eld/system

UPDATE:
Blofeld OS 1.15 is now officially announced on the Waldorf site:

http://www.waldorfmusic.de/en/news

The file still seems to be the beta version from 2nd of April.

- no more hanging of blacks

Thank God. It's 2010, racism is dead.

He replied about this in the Waldorf forum. He talks about the black keys...
I corected this above.

This version 1.15b is a beta version so it doesn't contain new wavetables, only reserved memory locations.

It's a beta version so i guess they will provide a program for that later. The 50 new memory locations are already there, marked as "reserved" and "user wavetable".
Maybe it works with the synth itself but so far no manual is available for v1.15 beta.

Nonetheless this is GREAT NEWS! I love it when manufacturers listen to user input - I e-mailed Waldorf on several occasions and they were very nice to deal with, they listened to my input and suggestions even though I didn't own the synth!

Now I'll DEFINITELY own it!

Here you get Blofeld user wavetables and sounds:

Those new user wavetables load to the new wavetable memory positions 80-96.

One new feature of the Blofeld OS 1.15 is the Sample/WT select modulation, called "O1 WT/Smp" and "O2 WT/Smp" in the modulation destinations.
This could modulate the selection of the samples or the wavetables opposing to the "normal" modulation inside one wavetable. Both could be combined.

I tested this an it seems to work, but not in real time. The sample/WT selection changes on every new key hit.

I expected that, kind of... it's not easy to make it realtime, that would be something like two-dimensional morph...

Great news if it's real and not just OS 1.3 with a "Stolen" message and a different version number.

Especially user wavetable functionality without paying €249 for the WL WavetableLicense :) But maybe the required program to create and upload them will cost money..

The OS is real and some free user wavetables could be found in a link above. So far i don't know how to create own wavetables but as the Sample managment program called "SPECTRE" is free i expect the wavetable program to do the same.

The current OS1.15b is a beta version so we could expect more from the final version i guess.

BTW I payed 99 Euros for the SL upgrade on the Waldorf shop:

http://www.waldorfmusic-shop.de/epages/ ... ucts/wbu60

I used the program for the "Challenge code" before the purchase and added the Challenge code during the purchase procedure. I got a MIDI files by email which i had do send to the Blofeld for unlocking. After that i used the SPECTRE program to send the factory samples. Finished...

There is nothing like a "Wavetable License", it's a license for loading samples, around 60 MB are available for that.
In the Blofeld keyboard this feature seems to be already included.
The user wavetables do work without the SL license.

PS: The message about a "stolen unit" appears at the end of the OS install and could be ignored since this is just a joke. After reboot you'll see "OS 1.15B11" in the Blofeld display an "SL" if you installed the sample upgrade.

downloads for OS, sounds, LicenseSL Challenge tool, SPECTRE, factory samples, etc. could be found here:

For some reason mine wouldn't update using Sonar, so I had to use midiox which worked first time.

The manual says the Blofeld will reboot after the update but mine just stayed on the stolen message, so I rebooted myself after 5 minutes and all was OK.

I use "MIDIBar" from MIDI-OX for the transfer which works very good. Usually at the end of a transfer a message like "close your transfer software, disconnect the USB cable and press the Play button" appears. This time they replaced it with that "funny ?! "stolen unit" message which totally confused me at the beginning...

does this update let you sync midi clock with external one (for example DAW's midi clock)?

Blofeld Version 1.15:
- MIDI Clock reception

I guess it does.
