Hi,

is there a possibility to load the easter soundset of the blofeld into the largo? Or can i convert the Blofeld bank into largo bank?

Thanks for the response

Regards

Not for now. Largo is a bit different than Blofeld.

Post

Ok!

I hope in the future it could
be possible.

Or by the next update.

Cheers

Probably won't happen.

I've got a blofeld, what's the difference between it and largo?
Is the blofeld more powerful?
(I hope so)

The Blofeld has a PPG filter, sample import (with the SL upgrade) plus user wavetables and WT/sample selection modulation (with OS 1.15b) and to my ears a better sound quality. Of course you have no problems with "GUI bugs" or CPU overload but the advantage of software is that the polyphony scales with the CPU.
BTW the factory presets of the Blofeld are the best i heard on any synth until today. They are both awesome and playable IMO.
Very interesting for me is that many of the more "digital" or Bell like sounds don't use a wavetable but FM synthesis for this.

Largo on the other hand has Sub-OSCs and more modulation routings including a Step LFO. Like all other softsynths it offers total integration.

I like both but at the moment the Blofeld is in front IMO.

I'm also waiting for PPG Wave 3.V since i already really like the old version.

I just found an update of the Blofeld OS 1.15 from 2nd of April on the waldorf site: http://www.waldorfmusic.de/de/downloads ... eld/system

Could be a version without the "stolen unit" message.

I haven't tried that so far since i already have the first version of OS 1.15 installed. Any experiences here ?

UPDATE:
Some news for the Blofeld keyboard users and the KBC update:

"On Sunday 04 April 2010, Tony Scharf wrote:

Confirmed, unfortunately. :-(

To get the old KBC firmware back you need to downgrade to V1.13 first,
get the Blofeld_KBC_1.01 firmware in (it's in Blo_Key_V1.01.zip in the
Tools folder of the Blofeld Downloads section) and then upgrade again
to V1.15. The hanging notes are back of course, but the velocity
behaves correctly.

If you really pound on the keyboard this would be normal, IMHO.
Sometimes it can also happen if the Modwheel is in a position just
between to values. At least on my unit there's no difference in this
regard between the two KBC versions."

Do you have Blofeld dekstop module or keyboard?

KBC is only for keyboard version, I reckon.

UPDATE:

From the replies on the Waldorf forum the updated version seems to be be without any strange messages (like "stolen unit").

I just put in the new O.S. and those wavetables that were pointed to (the Prophet Vs, MW, and Ensoniq waves), and let me tell you, it's really nice to have that stuff in there now. Some of these wavetables are so good, that I don't even need filters.

Note: turn OFF "limit WT" and turn the brightness up all the way to make it sound classic. Use the PPG filter too, I like it's subtle difference.

they should include "wave" and "Pulswidth" as parts of the arpeggiator, so you can make wave sequences.

Post

You can make repeating wave sequences by running LFOs through modifiers into PWM. Now there's the Sample/WT mod destination as well for even more fun. :-)

I have just installed the April 2nd os and it is still v1.5b11. The 'stolen' message is gone, replaced with a message NOT to swith off, but to press play to reboot. I wasn't aware of this when I loaded the April 1st os on.

For some reason though, I cannot load the Easter sound set, it just won't load. I have redownloaded it and tried via Sonar and midibar.

A Blofeld adaption for Sounddiver could be found here:

http://Synth.Stromeko.net/Downloads.html

direct link: http://Synth.Stromeko.net/SDada/Blofeld-ADA104R2.zip
readme.txt: http://Synth.Stromeko.net/SDada/Readme_Blofeld.html

I tested all three programs and all seem to be working. The Sounddiver adaption contains only the program memories but it's nice for building a library.
Of course none of the editors currently contain the updates from OS 1.15 but i guess they will be updated.
