MIDI monitor idea

As I spend more time with Cantabile, I'm starting to wish that it had a MIDI monitoring feature. The great thing about Cantabile is that you can filter MIDI at multiple levels: global, routing table, rack, etc. This also makes things more complicated because you're never quite sure which MIDI messages your plugin is receiving. As a result, there's a lot of trial and error. It would be really useful if I had something that showed me the MIDI messages that my plugin was receiving. Maybe even have the same thing at other levels, like the routing table.
Brad, if you could add this one to the wish list, I'd really appreciate it!

..thanks.
That's one of the things I had on my hidden wish list as well.
[Edit:]
I also thought of something like a midi filter explorer - also I honestly have no clear idea how this could look like...

HI,
Just as quick note: for those of you with Kontakt... there is a
little utility called "Midi Monitor" that shows what is comming into
the Kontakt plugin. Open up an empty script slot then open up
preset/factory/utilities/Midi Monitor.
'Hope that helps!

Thanks for the tip! Actually, that brings up an interesting idea. Maybe there's a general-purpose MIDI monitor plugin that I could place in my rack, in front of the instrument that I'm monitoring. If not, maybe I can use Kontakt as an overpriced MIDI monitor.

Brad, don't worry about this one. I just tried out the free MIDI monitor from
http://www.rs-met.com/
and it works great. Just put it in front of the instrument you're monitoring, and it displays the incoming MIDI messages. Thanks again to tkmh for helping me figure out how to do this!

Hi !
As mentioned before, there are already several VST MIDI monitors that can be used to monitor the racks and rack slots.
I prefer MIDI-OX for monitoring anyway, as it not only monitors VSTs. Therey may things to be monitored that are not necessarily going through Cantabile, so monitoring there may only give a partial picture.
best regards
RKW

Yup. I actually do both: MIDI-OX to see what my controller is sending and the VST MIDI monitor to see how Cantabile is filtering the messages.
