You probably pine for your old "dial" phone too?

i'm thinking the "tube" distortion is gonna sound like shit, but that is possibly a good thing.Muzik 4 Machines wrote:i hope they do the whole electribe line in it
maybe even a "shell" that hosts all of them, synced, with fx, so you can run all of them at once to make music
(id go make a gig with just a couple ipads and wouldnt even feel ashamed as i was when i gigged with a laptop (thats why i moved to hardware only live rig, as soon as you integrate a computer, you're like well, live can do all that, non need to carry this HW, and become kindof boring (unless you are girltalk), since the ipad is no computer, and cant do anything, it will be easier to justify integrating it in my setup)
or act like software guys instead of hardware guys and make a real nice groovebox software with software controls instead of mimmicking the hardware (i HATE circular controls on a touch screen, and what a waste of real estate to draw the fake tubes)
as for circular controls, many of them respond to straight up and down motions.
the electribe design is part of the selling point. there are already several apps (thump, isyn) that do pretty much the exact same thing. the electribe is meant for live performance and even though its mimicking the hardware i think its the best choice.

No, on computer you need to use mouse, or crappy midi controller. On iPad you could use the plugin's own GUI + your fingers to do the job. Much more faster and easy.Kriminal wrote:you mean like you can already on a computer...wow!Kraku wrote:

So far I can tell you this much:
- for $10, it's awesome. Very fun.
- motion sequence editing is a touch tricky via touchscreen knobs.
- has some effects from the ESX-1 which is cool, bit has only 1 efx processor.
- you can change knobs from rotary to linear which definitely helps.
- uses PCM snares and hats which sound more x0x-like than the original ER-1
- sifting though patches is way easier than any 'tribe IRL
I could see this being a very fun sketchpad which could end up being sampled for other projects. Need Korg to make more of these, though! Something similar to the EA-1 with a more EMX-like engine would probably be the next logical step.
I do wish it had more efx processors, but for $10 I'm not complaining!

They're just gimmicks and will never replace the real thing; toys for kids really. imo.fridtjof wrote:iPad haters just need to shut up. Seriously isnt it getting a bit pathetic? You guys will probably still slam it as a useless piece of kit after it's been a huge success.

Despite all the stuff I have on my iPhone I rarely write music on it. If anything I play a few synths directly into Live, and sometimes use Dopplerpad or Bleepbox but that's about it. Hexatone is a nice sequencer. Anything I'd want to use on a 10 hour or less iPad I could do better on my 7 hour or less MacBook. But like I said, I'd probably still buy it if I had $10 laying around.
Meh.

same thing, i can use the mouse (ie my fingers) to control hundreds of things (or even a midi controller..i have a good one thanks)...how many ipads do you need to do that? im still using my fingers, just touching a diff surfaceKraku wrote:No, on computer you need to use mouse, or crappy midi controller. Not really, the itouch is tiny, i can barely type on the thing, let alone use a synth GUI.... (its not mine BTW)Muzik 4 Machines wrote:that really suck, korg should wisen up a bitReverse Engineer wrote:ipad only.Muzik 4 Machines wrote:does it work on itouch or is it ipad only?

i dont really agree with this being the 'future' since controlers like the lemur are already being used and do pretty much the same thing. though, i think you are both missing the point.Kriminal wrote:same thing, i can use the mouse (ie my fingers) to control hundreds of things (or even a midi controller..i have a good one thanks)...how many ipads do you need to do that? im still using my fingers, just touching a diff surfaceKraku wrote:No, on computer you need to use mouse, or crappy midi controller. its MULTITOUCH surface. Depending on the interface you could technically manuipulate 10 controls at the same time. Your mouse can only touch 1 action at a time. With your hardware controller you can probably do two, maybe 3 actions at the same time.
its not new, but the size and price are.
