@Optomadic: alas, no it doesn't do strumming as such
you could approach it by using a very small trigger step and having the lfo modulate the note selected from the chord with each trigger step
but that would be difficult to get exactly right and it would be repeating it, not one-shot

Thanks for the quick response
!
I'm going to try using it with InsertPizHere's midiStrum. Maybe that'l do the trick.
One other question please..
I find that hypercyclic takes several beats to kick in when triggering VSTi's. Is there any way make it start playing back quicker?

Hello Mucoder:
1. I love both Tonespace and Hypercyclic;; they're my favorite freeware plugins. Just thought you'd like to know.
2. What about Tonespace2? When is it coming? I didn't know there were plans for it until I saw it mentioned on your website (dated Sept 2007!).
3. Hypercyclic takes a long time to load on my old Pentium 4 M laptop. Also, sometimes it causes stuttering of the audio during which the laptop becomes unresponsive for a longish time (up to a minute). What could be the issue? Is this laptop simply too old?
4. Also, there are some pretty awful Tonespace rendering issues (I can put up screenshots if required). Parts of the plugin GUI become 'blank', until I move the mouse over them. Do you know about it already? Can you help with this issue?
I am using the latest versions of both plugins. Do you plan to update them at all?

hi rbet, sorry for reacting late - too busy with work deadlines - no time for fun
...
it was about 50% finished. Then this avalanche of professional commitments came along (the ones that pay the rent) and I had zero free time left. I apologise to everybody waiting for it, but don't dare to give a release date. It is NOT dead though, it's still no.1 on my spare time project list.
HC can trigger synth vsts with fast patterns, and the synths could tax your CPU of course. Could it be a soundcard-related issue? Are you using asio drivers? What host and synths are you using?
)
PS you can always PM me with more specific bug reports if you like
cheers, Leo
hey thx a lot!rbet wrote:Hello Mucoder:

yeah I know...rbet wrote:

HC itself should load quite fast and not be that heavy on CPU, it's only doing midi. Developed it on a Core2 duo though - so P4 perf I have no personal data on.rbet wrote:

can't remember having seen that. I did have a pretty awful rendering problem with VSTs caused by the Intellipoint software that came with my MS bluetooth mouse. Turned out to be the "magnifying lens" feature that can zoom in onto parts of your screen when clicking mouse button. The only way to get rid of that was to uninstall the MS software. You could check whether there is an ipoint.exe process in your task list and see if the problem goes away when you kill it (at your own risk! allthough I do it all the time hererbet wrote:

already answered for TS. No plans yet for HC, but don't rule it out.rbet wrote:

Agreed! This probably has to do more with how a given system handles hi amounts of poly.mucoder wrote:HC itself should load quite fast and not be that heavy on CPU, it's only doing midi. Developed it on a Core2 duo though - so P4 perf I have no personal data on.

In a single core HC tends to peak w LFO modulated triggers, doubling 4th/5th above/below + rand arp mask + hi noise are in use. Limiting the max poly helps a lot

MuCoder, Hello...
I want to express my appreciation for your fine tool, congratulations on the deserved recognition. I am far less knowledgeable in music theory than most on this forum..., reading and learning as I go. Your tool has helped this "noobie" to appreciate chord structure, key, and a whole lot of related information more quickly. The visual representation has been crucial as I learn better being able to see it, then appreciate the sounds created. Particularly helpful is the ability to see and use the keyboard in which only the keys in the "key" are active and visible. I welcome your future development on Tonespace 2.0, understand the rigors of earning a living, just wanted to let you know of the positive effect of your work and my hope that you are able to continue development. I even looked for a Paypal button for donations to encourage you. Best to you.

monsieur wrote:Hello
Does it works with ableton 8.
Only working with internal synth for me!!
Thanks.
Hi monsieur,
I haven't had a chance to test yet on Live 8. It does work with Live 7 though and 8 should not be terribly different.
In 7 you have to add a second, empty(!) midi track next to the one that contains hypercyclic. On that track select hypercyclic in the "Midi From" combobox and set the "Midi To" combo to your external synth's midi port (you might need to enable that midi port in the Ableton settings if it doesn't show up in the midi-to combobox)
hope this helps

Hi, I am trying to use Hypercyclic with Garageband 5... can someone tell me if this has been tested? I have put the compontant file in the audio\plugin\component folder but it is not coming up in my combo box? I tried to follow the instructions in the attached pdf for Logic but got only as far as where it instructed to click the midi in tab (if i remember correctly)... this is different from OSX.
thanks!
thanks!

@naddison: I don't have GarageBand 5 at my disposal, so cannot test myself. But maybe there is a friendly hypercyclic fellow user on the forum here that could check out of HC works with GB5 on their rig?
@stanlea: I have been working day-and-night for 2yrs on some non-music-related software and am nearing release of that. But meanwhile have been longing for some spare time to pick up the audio stuff again. Which alas, so far, wasn't meant to be...
But I really hope I can some day - it was one of my nicest experiences ever to do plugins for the friendly crowd @KVR!

Hi, Mucoder
(hope this thread is still alive
)
I think there's something i dont get about Hypercyclic, and whether its capable of doing anyway.
You input a chord and hypercyclic arpeggiates it, But can it create single note sequences out of the chord?
