The Dvorak keyboard is a more efficient layout and it is one of the options in Windows - don't know about the Mac. You can try swapping the plastic keys around if you want the keys to match the output. People who try it say they get on top of the new layout in a few weeks. Trouble is that the QWERTY keyboard is a ubiquitous interface - you need to deal with them in all kinds of places - libraries, whatever - so you will need to deal with the QWERTY layout well.
