FWIW, I'm not feeling the least bit grumpy about this GB, since I do see it as incredible value for money, likely sounds amazing from all the comments, Squids has been wonderfully responsive, and I haven't yet tried to download a single thing, just futzed around inside the website trying to figure out what all the links in my esoundz account mean.

But ---

This thread is so incredibly long and complex and ever-changing, that I'd like to suggest that at some point y'all consider sending out, maybe to all the GB customers, a notification that the whole thing is complete and fixed and there won't be any more scripts or patches or addenda or new samples or anything else.

A straight-forward numbered instruction sheet regarding installation procedures and file locations would be nice too.

Because I don't think I'm going to even try to start downloading until I can simply do so, install everything, and run.

After all these pages of comments, it feels like it's a broken thing. Being fixed quickly, of course, and I'm waiting on the DVD with no rush needed. Sounds like that will do the core parts. But I don't think it's too sane for me to set myself up for another twenty hours of tweaking on it.

Lemme know when it's just plain ready to be used, please. I look forward greatly to that time. :)

Not sure if this is possible in the Player, but in full Kontakt you should be able to click on the little disk symbol at the top of the plugin and choose "save instrument as" then name it and pick a place to save it. Watch for the option at the bottom of the save dialog where you will likely want to pick "patch only".

Yes I'd like to know that too, a few days ago I downloaded the samples.

Today I got the patches. So should we wait for fixes or are these good?

Cheers, great GB :)

okay...found something that says 'save as' ...if you hold over it a menu pops up showing the instruments...

i saved it out to the desktop just to be safe...now i need to get it into the folder structure somehow, so i can pull it independently for creating hybrids...it's an nki, though, when everything else seems to be nkm...i saved as patch only with absolute path...don't want to go gung-ho and destroy any file paths....getting to grip with the kontakt/infinite interface, but not 100% yet

solved it...found the right directory, created my own folder....done and dusted

cheers

got a great , tight hybrid in the works if anyone's interested in a share......

it is an STm , so won't be tied to any MT kits you might not have d'loaded....it does, however, contain quite a few OWD pieces which would rule out any who didn't participate in the first group buy.....

it's shaping up to be a very dead and tight kit

i will be able to share the modified snare, though...at least, if i get the go ahead from sir. squidly

It's tough because Kontakt and the way we push the envelope for making a modular third party expandable workstation within it has its "elements"... things like patches referencing samples and graphic files are tricky and the "settings" of our extremely powerful scripts are also amazing... but require thorough checking of slots... what comes with the features is the extra details and they are brand new and there's a lot of them... so a few very very minor things (not even what you could really call bugs... no issues with the scripts, just some incorrect settings).

So, long story short, yes I can see that those new to Infinite Player and/or Kontakt it must look a little "brokenish" but it isn't. Just making sure everything references up okay and the default settings are the easiest to get going with whatever you're doing is all. The previous version of Drum Masters didn't even have all of these options... it was just GM or iMAP and it was totally fixed with no powerful round robin settings, no slots for positing which drums you want to assign to what part of the map... none of that stuff so of course it was a lot easier!... but it was also not nearly as POWERFUL and FLEXIBLE as this. In other words, this is totally worth it! When you are actually using it and want to make a custom hybrid kit of your own you will be LOVING things like tom slots and cymbal slots... and maybe it will take a video tutorial to really get that across or maybe my DM2 tour thread or maybe the manual for Drum Masters when it is done (soon) or maybe even just a post like this... although this thread is huge and I will consolidate info, get it out to everything and posted in our company forum for clarity when the dust settles here in the next day.

All will line up nicely and in the end there will be more bang for the buck, more bells and whistles, more possibilities for all the extra effort to try to accomodate EVERYONE... e-Drummers, keyboardists, producers, songwriters, guitarists and other musicians - each may want something different out of this stuff whether it is to play back midi files or to create your own through finger drummer, to have realistic e-Drum kits that respond to hi hat controllers and snare positions or to be able to custom map kit pieces with midi learn... MAJOR possibilities here with this. It took us years to get to this point to be able to offer it to you... and the price is normally many times this but we've been lowering the entry level for this great stuff as much as we can! We hope you're happy about all of that!

More news coming...

glad you got it sorted. The thing about saving just the preset (without samples) is that you can share without violating any terms because the person using it would have to have the samples for it to work (of course squids would be the final authority though). You might not want to use absolute sample paths though because it looks for the samples in a very specific place which is unlikely to be the same for anyone else.
I would be interested in checking out any presets you come up with although Dead and Tight sounds like a Cannibal Corpse song title. :D

Bruford skin/TGA reference issue fixed if you want to redownload and install the Phase 2 Patch zip. A simple drag and drop will replace it and it will work.

Okay, the Multitrack kits have been updated. You just have to redownload the Multitrack kits you chose is the only thing... sorry about that. Harder to update those with a global patch update since each person has a different choice. But they've been updated with subtle fixes (and Motown kit references samples correctly).

I am going to get something to eat... Brazilian. I'll be back a few pounds later.

you will be LOVING things like tom slots and cymbal slots...
I have to say that I fell in love with this feature the other night. I didn't really know what it was useful for until I used it (maybe not even the intended use for it).
I was playing my e-kit (which has 6 toms) and loaded up a kit with only 3 toms which ended up being mapped to the last 3 toms of my e-kit. Leaving 3 dead ones to skip over whenever I wanted to do a fill. By flipping each tom to a lower 'slot' (ie from slots 4,5,6 to slots 1,2,3) I was able to move them to the first 3 hardware toms very quickly. Very slick!

As nice as that feature is, I then realized I could leave the toms where they were and just load roto-toms into the first 3 pads and I had to visit the bathroom for a few minutes. :o

yes, definitely will save without the samples....and i see what you mean about not using the 'absolute' path

it's sounding really cool....i'm having problems working out which toms suit and even hoe to slot them into the mapping....it's all a little confusing....if i don't have any further joy over the next few days , i'll just upload the patch and leave everyone else to sort the toms.....

having said that, it might not be to everyones preference...it wasn't till i finished the d'load today, with the extra presets that i found the perfect snare

what say you , squids...can i share ???

Well, unfortunately, I still seem to be having some issues.

I have not gone through all of the kits yet, as I got home from work late and pretty much have to dive into bed...

But...The Bill Bruford kit in GM mode has no toms samples

The Drum Doc RGS kit is missing a number of cymbals that are listed in GM mode.

My guess is that there are others that I haven't found yet, but that will be similar to these issues.

In IMAP mode, the Bruford kit DOES appear to have the toms.

I have re-downloaded the phase 2 patches and installed them via the IP installer.

Oddly, I'm pretty sure the Bruford kit worked last night before I redownloaded and installed the new patches.

Suggestions anyone?

Post

I'm totally confused at this point as to what I should have and what I'm missing.

Squids- Can you tell me exactly how many INSTRUMENTS, MULTI'S AND SAMPLES I should have in each folder? Also, if it is not too much trouble can you do the same for the first GB kits as well since I'm wondering if I'm missing some there too?

Also, I had to manually drag and drop the USD Patch #2 into thier respective folder because I dragged it on to the installer several times and nothing even registered. Was that alright to do? Anyone else have this issue?

The TGA error message no longer shows up after installing the new Phase 2 Patch zip. But the toms in the GM kit do not work and every drum has an IMAP name.

p.s. I hope you had a caipirinha with your dinner.
